Where would you buy if the resorts were as is and they all had a new 50 year term AND the same number of rooms?

I would buy exactly what I have now - majority at OKW (have loved it throughout my 10 year membership), some VB and a few BWV (for the Boardwalk view rooms every few years or so - although I just cancelled one reservation there in favour of Vero ;) )

Never tried - or wanted to - BCV, VWL or SSR.

Unfortunately, your poll only allowed one option. I chose OKW. If I would have been given two options I MAY have also chosen AKV, because I expect to like it there. Unforunately, it is an unknown at this point, so I chose OKW.

Depends on the details of your question...are you saying all resorts would be freshly constructed, with identical purchase price, maintenance fees and dues?

Or would they simply have a 50 year RTU lease, but OKW still be 15+ years old, with SSR being the current newest built resort, and AKV opening soon?

Would OKW sell for it's original price, near $50 per point, or $100+ per point like AKV?

I chose BCV becaue of SAB. But once SSR is finished and I get to see what the Grandstand section looks like I will probably change my mind. As a couple with no children we like being close to DTD. We like to go out for drinks and we love Raglan Road & Adventurers club. If we had small children it might be VWL because of the proximity of MK. I would imagine people with 10-16 yo's would say either BWV or BCV.

I chose BWV, but if cost to buy and Maintenance is assumed to be equal then I probably would have chosen VB.

We would still chose SSR as it fits our family perfectly. Wife has spa appointments this upcoming Fri, we've also got ressies at Ranglin Road DDT for Fri night. Our flaming redhead 3 year old will love it especially the irish stepdancing. I will be posting pics :) Weather outlook looks good with temps in the 80's

I voted VWL since that's my favorite.
With that said, if you had allowed multiple selections, I would have included VB and AKV.

We currently own at VWL, VB, and now AKV. The question is, how would we divide our points amongst those three resorts?
I like our current mix. If I didn't, I would simply modify things to my likings.

The 2057 vs 2042 expiration plays a very small role in the grand scheme of things. The same for resort size, although I do like the fact that VWL is the smallest on site DVC resort. :thumbsup2

I purchased the resort I personally liked the best and nothing would change that dynamic given the terms of the poll. So as dark as it is, and as long as the hallways are, and though I may see pine trees there, and even though I can't walk to a park from there, VWL still reigns supreme as my number one choice.

YMMV, of course.

God point, lets say all brand new with 50 year terms and all resorts are 400 rooms large with the same room configuratons they have currently.

Couple things come into play for us:

1) Investment (resale value). If they are the same price I think BCV would likely increase the most because of SAB/small size and location to 2 parks and BW (demand). Throw in CRV and I am not so sure.

2) Booking advantage. Ability to stay there or somewhere else. For us it would be necessary to have 11/7 advantage at BCV first because we like it the best and it fill's up fast. To book at BWV has been slightly easier and much easier at OKW /SSR (VWL would be tough without owning there but had to pick one) so owning those is not as important. AKL appears large enough and we dont like the location anyway.

3) Preference. We prefer BCV for numerous reasons, factor in the above and its a no brainer for us, BCV.

4) Dues. When comparing the overall cost of these trips, a few dollars in dues is not relevant to us to get to stay where we want, but even if it is BCV resale value increases much faster than the dues anyway so it is our choice for dues as well.

I agree - tried to vote for more than one but since I can't picked OKW - although I own at BCV and SSR as well. If I had to sell two of them one would not be OKW.

What about purchase price and dues?

You see, if you equalize everything, number of rooms, prices, age of buildings, point charts, contract length...all this poll becomes is the same old tired "What's your favorite DVC resort?" discussion.

Still the same for us....BCV.

I also wish there could have been multiple answers. I voted BW since it was our first purchase and the majority of our points are there.
I'm one of those that if all were truly equal, I'd have contracts at all the WDW DVC resorts, even if it meant smaller points per resort! :goodvibes

Assuming identical size and purchase price, if I'd be restricted to only using my home resort, for my main contract I'd pick SSR (or OKW if it had a sit-down CS). I love the fact that both SSR and OKW are centrally located to everything, are close to DTD for non-theme park days or evenings, and have efficient, non-shared bus transportation.

I'm probably closer to Disney's target demographic for SSR than I am to a typical Disboard member - I purchased DVC mostly because I trusted the Disney brand, but I enjoy "resort" vacations just as much as theme park vacations. I would not have purchased DVC if there had not been a HHI or VB option. Dean would probably say I would have done better with another timeshare company ;) , but I have alot of food alergies that make travel to unknown places/restaurants scary and I know from experience that I can eat safely in any Disney restaurant or resort. I also knew I'd be using a portion of my points to travel alone with my children and the ease of transportation at any of the Disney resorts puts my mind at ease.

For a small add-on, VB or HHI. :goodvibes

I chose BWV, but I was torn by BVC because of SAB. But I don't really swim very often, and I love my BW views.
What are the views of from BCV? I stayed at the BC hotel a long time ago and had a view of the roof mostly, but some of SAB. What do you see from the villas? Is it EPCOT?

I chose BCV. Still my favorite of all. SAB is great for the kids, especially if we don't want to make a waterpark trip, and also the walking proximity to Epcot for the F &W, F & G festivals, Candlelit Procession, and Holidays around the world can't be beaten.
Epcot view is mainly trees and a road during the daytime. At night you can see the fireworks, but I didn't fancy sharing the balcony with all those bugs since the outside light could not be turned off.
I prefer the pool view, much more peaceful.:wizard:

Not that I like the poll, as we can only vote for 1 location, but we would still own EXACTLY where we do now - BWV & AKV. :yay: :yay: :yay:
