Are you under the impression that resale contracts have higher MFs than direct contracts?
Where would you add on 80 points direct at WDW? and, of course, why?![]()
I agree with all of this. I picked a 100 point resale contract just to demonstrate "you can get more for less." There are also 70, 75, 80, 85 point contracts available resale for the same MF as direct.No. But the MFs each year on 100 points vs 80 points…which is what you used in your post…will obligate someone to an extra $120 or so more each year.
So, if one only wants 80 points, it does not matter if you can get 100 points less on the resale market if you don’t want or need them.
That was my point. Buying direct allows you to get the extract number of points you want. Resale may require you to buy more because you May not find what you are looking for easily.
Direct can make sense for a lot of people especially for those like the OP who wants less than 100
Obviously, direct vs resale for the same # of points is cheaper resale. But, in the long run it’s not if you are forced to buy more points and have to pay more in yearly fees.
And direct does come with unrestricted points and that is important to a lot of people.

Yes, if you're extremely particular that you need EXACTLY X points at Y resort with Z use year, direct is your best bet. But OP doesn't appear to be that particular given the subject of the thread. Personally, if I were shopping for 80ish points, I'd buy the best deal I could find anywhere from 75 to 100 points.
Excellent point. Plus Poly points (assuming they were less expensive) can be used to try other resorts that are easier to get in to at the 7 month mark (AKV, OKW) and maybe use less points. My Riviera points are for Riviera only. Except maybe VGF...that’s the only DVC we haven’t stayed in yet except Vero and CCV.If you already own at Poly - I’d add at RIV - gives you good access to 3 parks
I didn't say "you should buy resale, resale is the right decision for everybody." I just asked a question... politely, I might add. Then people started responding all snippy and sarcastic.Except they asked about direct so I think at the very least they have a reason for wanting those points.
Good point. That would also get me the two biggest studios at WDW, and with dual showers. If you already own at Poly - I’d add at RIV - gives you good access to 3 parks

If I ask "should I buy a GMC Acadia or a Kia Telluride," I'm not going to get all pissed off if someone chimes in with how much they like their Subaru Ascent.
RIV is currently selling at $201. I’m not in a rush. Will Disney give us a heads up before they increase the price?
Not necessarily..they might - then again - they might not -RIV is currently selling at $201. I’m not in a rush. Will Disney give us a heads up before they increase the price?
Their current incentive (save $5/point for 100 - 124 points) ends November 3. Who knows what will happen after that. Better incentives? Worse? Price increase? With VGF 2 sales coming soon....who knows? Also remember the closing fees which add up. An 80 point contract works put to about $207 pp with the closing fees. A 100 point contract works out to $201 pp after the $500 discount, but adding in closing costs. I used the handy add on tool on the member website. If you did buy right before November 3rd and they came out with better incentive/price, you can legally rescind the contract within a certain amount of days.....not sure what the exact timeshare law is in Florida. Unless you are Canadian or other international. I recently saw where someone rescinded their contract but they were from Canada and their credit card company charged them a large fee. Don’t know what that’s all about.RIV is currently selling at $201. I’m not in a rush. Will Disney give us a heads up before they increase the price?
