I remember sitting at my desk at work listening to the oldies while I worked and they interrupted with the awful news.

what I find amazing is how they're able to figure out what caused the explosion when there probably wasn't much left of the rocket or shuttle. Just like Apollo 13 (one of our fav. movies, by the way) - they figured out what caused the oxygen tank to explode when that part of the rocket was left in space.

I was standing in the street watching the vapor trails. I've never watched another launch. My oldest was in the school yard watching with her teachers. She was 8. Younger one was on the playground of her preschool. She was 4. DH was at work and didn't know about it until a customer came in Eckerd's and told him.

I knew one of the teachers that was in the running to be on that mission. I just remember thinking it could easily have been her.
