Just got back last night from 4 days at WDW. We got there Wed. afternoon, headed over to the Boardwalk for pizza, decided to make it an early night so we could get an early start 4th of July morning.
Woke up bright and early and were in Epcot by 8...wow! No crowds!! Did Test Track, no fast pass needed I might add, then did the new Figment ride. Also no wait. My DD still doesn't like it as much as the original, but I have to say it's a HUGE improvement from the middle one. We stopped into the passholder lounge for a drink and the lady at the desk asked if we had our priority passes for Shockwave. We got them, and boy am I glad we did. What a show!!! We also made PS's for Germany for lunch.
I have to say right here, as a native Floridian, I was prepared for a miserably hot day, but I bet it didn't get over 80*. It was overcast all day, which is fine by me. We didn't even need sunblock. It rained for maybe an hour in the afternoon, but that was it.
We got to Germany for lunch, no one was in there hardly. It was almost eerie how empty Epcot seemed. We asked our server if there had been any terrorist threats we didn't know about and he said not that he knew of. He checked that morning before he came in himself. He also could not believe how few people were there.
After the Shockwave show at 5 p.m. we asked a CM if she knew if the MK was filled to capacity, she radio'ed to someone who said that the parking lot was full but that we could get over there by monorail.
We headed out and were there by 6 and even it didn't seem terribly crowded. Most of the line waits on stand by were 60 - 70 minutes, which, if you've ever been there during a holiday, you know really isn't that bad. The rides even had fast passes you could still get, I was afraid they would have all been disributed before we got there. We staked out our space on the train platform at 7, the fireworks were at 9. My DH went down and got us hotdogs and drinks and we ate them while we waited. There was a great breeze and not a bad wait at all. The fireworks were as fantastic as ever, especially loved the National Anthem this year.
After the fireworks we waited up there for 45 minutes or so for most of the crowd to clear out, then we headed off to do more rides. The park was open til midnight which was a special treat since they don't do that too often now. We got on 5 rides in a half hour! Even got to ride Thunder Mountain 2 times in a row. We had the HM to ourselves which was great. Same at Small World...had a whole boat to ourselves.
The next day we spent with family and didn't go to a park, but ate at Boma's that night. That's the second time we've eaten there...it is sooo good! The CM's working there were fantastic with my DD and cousin. They were showing them the hidden Mickey's through out the Lodge. Even gave them a scavenger hunt paper telling them were to find all the Mickey's. We could have stayed there all night letting her find them!
Sat. we went to AK for a few hours then went to MGM. Even those crowds seemed pretty light. That evening we went back to Epcot to see Illuminations where the crowds were especially sparse. Not that I'm complaining!
Yesterday was check out day, but we managed to squeeze in MK one last time. The morning crowd was light, but it was getting more crowded as the day went on. By 3 the sky was getting black and we still had to hook up our camper back at the campground (off property), so we headed out.
It was a great trip and the weather was even better!
