It was me (39), DH (40), twin girls (2). We spent most of our 3 days at MK and Epcot. The DDP worked great for us as we were not charged for our girls. They ate off of our plates which was a good thing as there was so much food.

11/30 - Lunch at Columbia Harbour House. It never fails to be great. DH and I each ordered the Captain's Special which was Chicken and Fish. DH got fries with his. I ordered carrots. We both got apple pie for dessert. I got Apple Juice to drink for the girls. DH got a bottled water which we split. Food was excellent as usual. We hit the place shortly after 11am so it was not yet crowded. Very fast service.

11/30 - Snacks. We got bottled water on the DDP. We also purchased a Dole Pineapple Whip at Aloha Isle (excellent!) and a Orange swirl thing (frozen OJ swirled with vanilla ice cream or yogurt). The girls loved the pineapple treat, but didn't like the OJ treat.

11/30 - Dinner at Cinderella's Gala Feast at Park Faire. Our first time there. There was a fantastic variety of food. I started with a plate with some of their salads and peel n' eat shrimp. Next I had roast prime rib au jus, some mashed potatoes (excellent!!), portobello ravioli, salmon, fresh vegetables, and an egg roll. I finished with a Key Lime Tart and a cheesecake tart. DH ate just about what I ate. My girls loved the mac n' cheese, veggies, and krispy treats. There were also mini raisin loaves that my girls loved. They drank apple juice. DH had coke. I had water with my meal and coffee with dessert.

The character interaction was good although they should add a few others. Excellent Service. We were seated about 10 minutes after our arival. (photo with one of Cindy's mouse friends below.)

12/1 - Breakfast at Park Faire. Our second character meal. The breakfast was excellent. I had a made-to-order omlette of ham, cheese, peppers, mushrooms and onions. I ate that with potatoes, bacon, biscuits and gravy. I also had fresh fruits and some pastries. DH also got the cheese blintz and sausage which he enjoyed. The girls had scrambled eggs, mickey waffles, and fruit to eat. They also had apple juice to drink. DH had orange juice. I had coffee.

The character interaction was great. Mary Poppins stayed in the lobby which we didn't realize until later. My girls love Mary Poppins who spent a great amount of time with them. They also enjoyed the other characters. Service was excellent!! We were seated immediately. (Photo with Alice below)

12/1 - Lunch at Epcot's World Showcase. I got a counter service meal in one place early that we all shared. DH got a meal later that we shared. Extras: We bought candies in England and Italy. For snacks on the DDP we got bottled water. We also purchased a cream puff from Boulangerie Patisserie.

Counter Service for me: Saffron roasted chicken at the Tangerine Cafe in Morocco. Yum!! It was so flavorful without being spicy and was served with a delcious yellow rice. Baklava was the only dessert of choice, but it was the only dessert I wanted. My whole family shared this delicious meal. Even my 2yo's loved it. To drink we had bottled water. The service was excellent and they answered all of my questions about the various offerings they had.

Counter Service for DH: Plato Combinacion at the Cantina de San Angel in Mexico. Not bad. The chicken taco had grilled peppers and onion and tasted like a fajita. The beef burrito was fine. The quesadilla was deep fried which was odd to me. The black refried beans were pretty good. There was also Mexican salsa, but we really didn't use much. Would have been great if it came with taco chips. To drink, we had bottled water. Our dessert was a yummy churro.

12/1 - Dinner at O'hana at the Polynesian resort. We had been at O'hana many times and were very nervous about the menu changes. We did miss the pupu platter on the lazy susan as well as the pineapple with caramel for dessert, but did enjoy much of what was offered.

The wonton chips were ok. The girls loved them. I really enjoyed the peanut sauce. The other sauces were ok. The salad is one of my favorite recipes. DH and I ate a ton of this. The shrimp weren't bad. You did have to peel them so you didn't have the sauce directly on the shrimp. I did pick out the red pepper and fruit out of the bowl and added to my plate so I could eat them with the shrimp after I peeled them. The chicken wings weren't bad, but they were fatty. The girls ate some of these and were iffy about them. My favorite meat was the steak. The pork was a close second. I dipped that in the peanut sauce and it was great! The turkey was good with the green sauce. The girls mostly ate the turkey and sausage. We all enjoyed the veggies, but thought the potatoes were just okay. They really didn't go with the meal. Neither DH nor I like bread pudding and thought that it was too heavy to end the meal with it. We missed the pineapple which was lighter and more refreshing. We ended up pouring the banana foster sauce over our ice cream and eating that rather than the bread pudding. The server brought our girls plain ice cream for dessert which they loved!!
To drink we all had pineapple juice.

The entertainer was lovely. (Picture below.) The bad thing is that if you go up to participate in any of the activities, your meal gets quickly cold. There was a ton of food, but most of it average. The salad, steak, pork, veggies, and peanut sauce were above average. I would be happy with fewer items at a higher quality. Had we not eaten a O'hana previously we may have enjoyed the meal better, but we found ourselves asking each other "remember the pork wontons and egg rolls on the pupu platter, etc." The meats are mostly the same and thankfully they kept our favorite salad.

Our server was great, but hurried. It took us awhile to get our first course. Then they came one right after the other. We knew that we could order for the girls on the optional kids menu if they didn't like anything, but they found enough stuff that they liked to make them happy. I noted earlier that our server gave the girls' plain ice cream instead of the bread pudding. That was very good of him to do.

12/2 - Breakfast at MK confectionary. We had planned on getting a nice pastry and fruit at the Main Street Bakery, but Mickey and Minnie were standing near the front of Main Street when we first entered MK so DH and the girls got in line while I bought us each a krispie treat. Since it was "breakfast", I foregoed the chocolate dipped and simply got the plain mickey head krispie treat on a stick.

12/2 - Lunch at Cosmic Ray's in Tomorrowland. I got the chicken and ribs combo with fries and carrots. DH got the Meteor Meal (double cheeseburger) with fries. We gave the girls some chicken, burger, fries, and carrots. For dessert, DH and I both chose the chocolate cake. One we ate and the other we brought home. I got chocolate milk to drink for the girls and DH got an orange soda. Service was fast as we ate shortly after 11am.

12/2 - Snacks on the DDP were popcorn and water. We purchased the strawberry swirl at the Enchanted Grove in Fantasyland.

12/2 - Dinner at Concourse Steakhouse at the Contemporary. Since the girls hadn't really had steak before, we ordered (and paid) off of the kid's menu for them. We got them the mac n' cheese and asked that it come out with our appetizers. DH got a smoothie called The Bay Lake - low-fat strawberry yogurt blended with orange juice and pineapple juice. For appetizer, he choose the Honey Sesame Chicken Wings and for his main course his chose the Chipotle Glazed Rib Eye with Onion Rings. I got the Ravin' Raspberry smoothie, the Pan Seared Scallops and the Filet Mignon with mashed potatoes.

First, we were shocked that the mac n' cheese was just mac n' cheese, no veggie or anything else for $5.49. They ate it up pretty quickly so DH gave them some Onion Rings which they enjoyed. DH was disappointed with his rib eye. He expected a spicy rub with a light glaze, not a wet sauce. He wished that he had gotten the NY strip instead (which would have come with veggies). My filet was tender and cooked to a perfect medium, but not strongly seasoned. The mashed potatoes were to die for, but I did wish for some veggies to balance out the meal.

For dessert, since the girls finished so quickly, I decided to order them a dessert. (I know, I should have ordered veggies, but we were on vacation). Normally they split their stuff, but since they love art and it is hard to split such a dessert, I ordered them each a Painter's Pallet. This is a mickey shaped sugar cookie placed on a wooden painter's pallet. The chef uses a ribbon of chocolate to make 3 little wells to place 3 different colors of frosting. A tiny cup of mickey shaped sprinkles are also held on the pallet by a smudge of chocolate. The dessert comes with a small paintbrush that the child can use to paint their cookie with. My girls spent most of the dinner painting their cookie. We had to show them that it was indeed a cookie that could be eaten. They loved it!! I highly recommend this dessert to all who color. DH and I both had the Butterfinger cheesecake for dessert.

The service was very good. I was nervous about it being noisy due to the monorail or too close to Chef Mickey's, but we were seated in the front so the girls had no knowledge of Mickey next door. Also the monorail was so quiet that we barely noticed it. When we did notice it, the girls took great pleasure in waving to the passengers.

I hope this review helps. I highly recommend both Park Fair character meals. O'hana is good and should be tried at least once. Concourse Steakhouse is good.

For counter Columbia Harbour House is our all time fav. Cosmic Ray's was great as well. For the best bang for the buck, Tangerine Cafe wins hands down with excellent service and delicious flavorful food. Cantina de San Angel was okay.

For snacks, you can't beat bottled water on the DDP. We never miss the Dole Pineapple Whip (the float is great too). Our fav might just be the strawberry swirl at Enchanted Grove though.

I'm including pics of my girls enjoying the Painter's Pallet.

Great reviews and adorable pictures! Thanks for taking the time to post them!

Thanks for the great reviews! I think my kids would love the cookie. We've done the peanut butter play dough at Coral Reef, and that was a lot of fun too!

Thanks for the reviews. That was a good idea ordering your dd's entrees with your meal and dessert early, so they could be entertained. I think I may do that on our trip! Great tip! :flower:

Thanks for sharing. Love the picture from Ohanas, that is our favorite cast member there, Lipoa, she is so nice.

Great reviews and even better pictures. I have the same ideas that you have concerning the counter service locations to get the biggest bang for your buck. I'm glad to see that you agree and I am going in the right track.

When we stayed at the CR in 2004, our 2 girls had that dessert as well.....they still talk about it!
