We had it all figured out; then plan changed!

Now my husband may need to work on one of the days when we are in DW.

If I cannot add on dates to the existing reservation (GFV Studio; first week of Nov. Good luck, right?), the day he needs to work is the day we move from one resort to another. Any thought where he can work around GF-- he needs internet and relative quite area?

I am really hoping not to cancel GFV to re-book SSR because those few hours he needs to work. *sigh*
Thanks

The Grand has a business center for one option.

I don't believe I've been in that one but if it's like BWV and CR then it's more about having work related items available than a place to work although they might "rent" out one of the computer cubbies. However, the conference center itself will likely have some quiet corner.

He will have his laptop and necessary items. But he needs a place and wifi access. Wireless internet is available in the lobby, correct? Thanks!

Yes, and if quiet is not required that would work. The pool areas have it also as would the convention center.

Thanks... I am going to see if he can convince him to take a chance by working in lobby area. (sometimes he has last minute conference call). We already got MNSSHP; otherwise, I would have cancelled the trip.
I also thought adding the nights in SSR but overlap one night; that way, there will be no gap. (I know, it is a waste of points). If I do that, will it be a problem now I have 2 separate reservations with same name and overlapping the night. I am so looking forward to staying in GFV that I am trying not to give up on the reservations (**sigh**)

Generally I consider the common areas like the lobbies to be too noisy for work calls. Even if your DH can hear fine the background noise will be there for others. An indoor area that can be fairly quiet at many of the resorts, although I haven't checked out VGF's, is the laundry room. :goodvibes Getting into SSR a day earlier would likely be the most comfortable though.

He does not have noise cancelling headphones. I think his bigger concern is what if there is a conference call. Thanks for all the suggestions (would not have thought of laundry room). are there table and chair in laundry room?

There are chairs and usually a table as well. It's for folding clothes but unless it's some strange day it's usually being unused. As I mentioned though I haven't been in the VGF laundry but that's the typical layout in the 8 or 9 laundry rooms I've used at Disney. Of those some I easily could have worked in and a couple were really tiny and wouldn't have been comfortable.

Thank you than you thank you! You all are so helpful. I really appreciate the information.

Since you're at VGF anyway, I suspect Mizner's lounge will be the best option or else wander over to the convention center if there's no big conventions. Or you could go on over to SSR were the bar usually isn't bad and if it's too much, outside there should work fine.

Thanks.. Sounds like it will be doable. I won't waste my points to overlap one night then. Need to save points for a trip (hopefully) to Aulani when DS and DD both graduate in May. Feeling grateful for all your inputs.. and less stress too :-)

I agree with Dean, if you are moving to SSR, I find it very quiet there especially back in the bar area. Unless someone is playing pool.

OP have you considered calling either SSR or GF to ask if they might have any ideas to help/accommodate your husband's needs? Whether a late/early check in (fat chance during MNSSHP) but it never hurts to ask 'where' might be a good public place @ the hotel for him to set up camp.

Ps invest in a pair of noise cancelling headphones to use with his phone or laptop for the conference call. It makes a lot of difference and great for the air travel!

SSR's bar area was used as breakfast overflow seating when we were there, was noisy.

I will most definitely ask. We were in GF in May and asked for a late check out, they said it is not an option at GF because "we are always full and we need to get the rooms clean". Maybe we are lucky for an early check in.

Definitely will check out noise cancelling headphones; his BD is next month and I am trying to figure out what to get him. Any particular brand or things I should look for?

Thank you all for the suggestions. Having various options; then go with the flow.

It's policy not to allow late check outs. Getting in the room is possible if you put an early check in but not guaranteed.

A warning, WDW wi-fi isn't exactly impressive. He might be better off heading off site. See what sort of connectivity he gets BEFORE you decide - and it doesn't matter if he is in a room or not. If he needs to run webex or something - it may be very difficult.

The other caution - from experience - if he's having conference calls on confidential matters, he should find/rent a private space. There is nothing quite like discovering that your accountant is disclosing quarterly financials in an airport for everyone in the boarding area to hear. (Yeah, we fired that guy - the SEC isn't kind about leaked financials).
