I tried finding a thread on where to watch Wishes, but could not find it.

So other than the cruises, where is the best place to watch in MK? My DD3 and I just watched it online and she was so excited.

The top of the train station is likely one of the most popular places, and for good reason. However note that the lights on main st. do NOT turn off during the fireworks, unlike in the hub, and the light "can" be distracting.

I like standing at the very end of Main St., right in the middle of the street just beyond Casey's and the Parlor.

Another great spot is on the bridge between the hub and tomorrowland, but the fireworks come up from the side of the castle instead of behing it from this angle.

Don't get TOO close or you miss the lower level fireworks behind the castle. I'd say just stay in the hub area nearest the the Casey's and parlor area for the best view.

Thank you civileng68 for your suggestions. What to you mean by "the hub"?

Are there anymore out there?

Ok, if you look on the MK map, you'll noticed, that you have main st. as you enter the park. Well if you walk towards the castle, Main St ends and runs into the "hub" which is a "center" area where all of the lands othe MK meet together. It's where when you get down main street you finally make a decision as to which direction to go to go to whatever land you want to visit.

Basically it's the area right in front of the castle. It's a big open area. It's like the "hub" of a wheel where the spokes go off in various directions.

The best place to stand is at the "back" of the "hub" towards the Ice Cream Parlor and Caseys. But, stand just beyond them so the lighting doesn't distract. It's close enough to be beyond the Main St. Lighting, and far enough to see all of the shells, even lower level shells.

You can also watch them from the Ferry Landing across Bay lake. Many are not aware of how great of a view it is. Just walk down to where you would board the ferry and watch, plus you can hear the music piped in.

You can go to the California Grill on top of the Contemporary. If you have a meal there around that time you can walk out onto the outdoor balcony and watch from way up high.

You also can watch from a chair. Enter the park, go to the ice cream parlor, hang a right, and just to the left (after turning right) you will see steps that go down. You can go down there and sit at the tables and in the chairs. It's great if you have an ice cream cone, chairs, table and Wishes! However, some nights this is closed off as a special viewing area for ticket holding guests only.

If that area is taken, you can go to the Chinese restaraunt and go to the outter seating on uncovered area and grab a table and watch. You get about the same view as on the bridge.

Avoid: Avoid the bridge going to Hall of the Presidents. While it's a pretty good area actually there are trees in the way, unless you get one of the few "prime" spots.

Avoid from anywhere in Adventureland EXCEPT: If it's NOT crowded and there are not many people on the Swiss FAmily Treehouse, and given it is open, you can go up, stop and have a PRIME PRIME spot, but if people are on and don't want to stop, you will have to keep moving.

You can basically see from anywhere in the park but there are obstructions. Just take the areas I listed and make a choice and you should be fine.

My point of advice: The closer to the hub the better the view. just a personal opinion.

Avoid Fantasyland! We were stuck there one day and it was horrible. We had to keep turning our head from side to side to see the fireworks. Plus, we missed tinkerbell.

i would agree with that too. Too many buildings. We were at COP during Wishes in July and could see NOTHING.

Don't stand on the bridge between the castle and liberty square. I thought it would be perfect because I could see the castle but most of the fireworks were behind the trees. 1 mistake in my plan and my husband will not let me forget!!! :wizard:

We have only seen Wishes once and we stood between the "Partners" statue and the castle. This was a little close , but the pictures turned out great. Next time we will try it farther away, down Main Street

Right. It's not "bad" but you miss some of the show I think. What many first timers dont realize is that only a portion of the fireworks are shot off from behind the castle. All of the bigger shells are shot off from outside of the rear of the park. So it's not like you are looking straight up at the huge shells. You actually have to be able to see BEHIND the castle. However, when standing a little further back, the shells have a great illusion of coming up from BEHIND the castle.

If you are staying at the Contemporary then try to face the MK and get a tower room. It is really cool!! :Pinkbounc

We've found the bridge connecting Tomorrowland to the hub to be
a great spot. Being down there in early Aug., I also found it to be
one of the last areas to get "real" crowded. I snagged a spot on
a Tuesday night, on the bridge with an unobstructed view, as late
as 9:45 p.m. pirate:

Anywhere between 3/4 down Main Street and the hub are prime spots. DH and I tried a few different spots... none of them gave the same view as straight-on.

What about watching them from a ride? Is there a ride that is really magical to see the fireworks from? Like Dumbo or Splash Mtn? pirate:

I have watched Wishes from Splash Mountain before. You don't get to enjoy the entire show,of course, but what you do see is great. It was very romantic

I think that on Main Street further back from the hub is better. Halfway down or standing in front of the flag pole are great spots. The only exception to this would be when they are doing the special MVMCP fireworks when they do the 360 degree fireworks, then the area near Casey's is the best IMHO. :)

We like the center of Main St. directly in front of the castle between Casey's and the Ice Cream Shop. You can follow her until she disappears into the trees onto the roof of the Tomorrowland Terrace.

My favorite spot is the walkway between Main Street by the tip board and Crystal Palace. If you get a spot right behind the railing, no one can stand in front of you because there is a ravine there and you have a perfect view.
