Where to watch afternoon parade

We will be at WDW the week between Christmas and New Years and I'm wondering where the best spot is for watching the afternoon parade and how early should I get a spot?

This will be a very crowded week. I would say to stay off Main Street and watch from near the Liberty Bell in Liberty Square. Get a spot at least an hour ahead of time and hold your spot because people will crowd you out. Good luck!
