We will be traveling to Disney next year and I was wondering has anyone had problems with storing your laptops or gaming systems in your suitcase without them being tampered with ?
Though we never take a lap top on vacation, I do take a portable DVD player, and it stays hooked up to the TV with movies nearby... Plus a Kindle Fire, Gameboy DS... Those items get placed in a suitcase covered with clothes...never had any problems
I've never had any of my electronics touched at WDW - but I usually only bring smaller items that fit in the safe, like a tablet. I do leave my chargers and whatnot out on the nightstand, table, etc though.
When I travel anywhere with a laptop and it doesn't fit in the hotel room safe, I lock it in a suitcase. Cutting a lock takes a bit of time, which is a small deterrent... and sure, someone could just take the suitcase, but that's a bit more conspicuous. I figure it's better than nothing.
The last few years I dont even try to hide it and have not had any issues. If someone has the intent to take something the first places they would look is drawers and suitcases
We also have left items out in the room successfully. A laptop or iPad on the table has always been there when we returned. Others may go on about how this is irresponsible of us, but we have been fortunate. It makes it easy for us to know that our items are still there when it is out in the open.
If you're nervous about it, you could always put a lock on your suitcase and store it in there while you're out. Sure someone could walk out with your suitcase in hand, but I'd think that's a lot less likely. They even sell TSA approved luggage locks that can be used for the flying portion of your trip, if you're so inclined.
If you have a small notebook or tablet, we've been able to fit it in the in-room safe.

There is a video out there showing that all you need is a pen to get into a locked suitcase. You simply separate the zipper.
If you are at all worried, lock your lap top to something. They sell locks just for that purpose. While theft is not common at WDW it does happen. If anything is stolen from your room Disney is not liable, so you have to determine how worried you are.
I have locked my iPad in the safe in the room and when we had laptops with us we had them in suitcases with other things on top of them. Never had a problem...
Hubby has his own business and will need to have his laptop with us in case a client ends up "dead-in-the-water" We simply can NOT afford the luxury of hoping it won't go missing. Our solution? Simple, Bell Service! They will gladly hold it Sure it will be a bit of a pain going back and forth but heck, that baby is how we earn our living!!
When I was there in May, I left out two laptops, two Nintendo 3DSXLs, an iPad, and a Playstation 4. No one messed with our items. It's possible we were just lucky. Either way, I feel safe there, which could lull me into a false sense of security.
Wow I didn't know bell service would do that, I am more comfortable with that option, we have spent a lot on my sons gaming laptop and he and I would be beyond upset if it is stolen.
