Just wanted to know what everyone does with there DSLR and camerabag when they go on rides. We will be carrying a stroller with a compartment underneath, but I don't know if that is very safe. Any suggestions???

Thanks

Abolutely do not leave it in the stroller! WDW is about as safe a place as exists but thefts still occur.

Carry it on the ride. I always carry my SLR and bag with me, camera strap wrapped around my wrist, bag over my shoulder or down by my feet. It's not a problem except on something like Kali River where you might want a waterproof bag to put it all in.

I either held it or put it into a bag (then put the bag near my feet). For Splash, I had it out to take pictures and then put into a plastic bag near drops.

So most people carry their camera actually ON the ride? Is it ok with the cast members? What about rollercoasters, TOT, and fast paced rides?

Thanks for the info so far.

I have never had a problem taking my camera on a ride at WDW or DL. Some parks (universal etc.) do not allow cameras on certain rides, for uncertain reasons.
Occasionally a CM will ask you to be sure not to take photos on the ride (like RnR Coaster, as if I could take photos on that one).

i've taken my camera on every ride except raging spirit (Disneysea) because they prohibit backpacks.

i like taking photos of the kids, dw, or my lil sister on the rides. sometimes i take photos just to see what happens. i took the shot below on 'Rockin' space mtn...

(i think i just heard Keanu go 'whoa!')

I take mine on all the rides and use it too.

Just got back a few days ago and had no problem taking my bag on all the rides. On some I took photos, on others I wrapped the bag strap around my wrist and held the bag between my feet. Even on Rockin' Roller, the bag stayed put at my feet.

I had no problem carrying my DSLR on any ride at WDW (though admittedly RnRC was closed last trip.) The only time I've gotten a hard time from a CM was on Tower of Terror (California Adventure version, not at MGM in Florida), when he didn't like that I had the lens cap off my PnS. I felt like I was getting scolded by a teacher in front of the class. :(

For Kali River Rapids, I kind of wrapped the DSLR in my bucket hat and stuck in in the covered area in the middle, and it was fine. Most camera bags seem to have zippers plus flaps & velcro, so if you close it up tight, your stuff should be well-protected even on a wet ride, assuming that you don't submerge it.

If you're going on a new ride, it's probably not a bad idea, if possible, to ride it the first time without your camera out, just so you can concentrate 100% on the ride... I didn't do this during Expedition Everest and I still loved it, but next trip I'm going to have to try putting the camera down and just enjoy the ride.
