Disney is not about to promote its crime issue in public just like restaurants don't make it easy to find out about their latest health department inspection results. Nor will you find people bragging about how they left their laptop out and it got stolen...people would you just say...you should have locked it up
There is crime all over the Disney property. There is a relationship between crime and tourism destinations so most Orlando Governments take this issue serious.
It does not mean their able to eliminate crime from an area but maintain acceptable levels. Some thiefs are rather bold too...feeding off people's false sense of security because their at Disney World.
An interesting one is where a local individual visited seven Disney resorts (record referenced Pop and PR) where this individual actually snipped cash register wires and placed the enitre register in large garbage bags when clerks were not looking. Pretty bold person and he got away with it for an extended period of time, until fate caught up with him.
