We are driving to wdw from VA, we want to stop over for the night between VA and Florida, can anyone recommend a good place to stop for the night?

Thanks for any suggestions

I guess it may depend on where in Virginia you are and how far you want to drive the first day, but we always liked to stop in Pembroke, GA near Savannah. I believe it is Exit 94 on I-95. Lots of hotels all together at that exit. That is about ten hours for us.

After flying and getting down there in less than two hours, it is difficult to make the drive again.

We are coming from the Chesapeake/Norfolk area. I was leaning towards Savannah or that area so I will research Pembroke. Expedia couldn't find it so I'm going to google. Thanks for the suggestion :thumbsup2

We like to stop at the GA/FL border and our friends liked this too. Its only about 3 hours from WDW, so you have plenty of time on arrival and departure days.

There's a great website for the drive called usastar.com (ive seen this get *ed out so if you can read it the site begines withour country's initials and ends with star, one word.)

We too are driving from VA (near Richmond). One of the other boards suggested Kingsland GA. We want to stay on the just on the GA side of FL. This will have us only driving a few hours the next day and keep us out of those FL taxes for one more night. There were quite a few hotels there when I googled Kingsland GA hotels. hope that helps!

We drive in from the Richmond area, too. Now we leave at 4:00 am., and drive straight through. But in 2003 and 2004 we stopped in Darien, GA, at a Hampton Inn, (there were other hotels, too.) If I recall, that left us with about 5 hours to drive the next day.

Yes, as another poster said this was just discussed in another thread. We are headed from Virginia Beach and are staying in Kingsland, GA. It's 9.5 hours to there and our kids are good car travelers, so we should make it with only one or two very brief stops. Then it's only 3 hours to Orlando. Originally we were going to drive straight to Orlando, but I figured it would wipe dh and I out and make us too tired to enjoy our first day at the World.

How long is the driving trip from Richmond VA for you. Just trying to figure out how long to expect to be in the car and I want to pack goodies for our son to open along the way. I thinking about 1 every hour so like 9 or 10 to Kingsland GA and then 3 or 4 to WDW. Does that sound about right?

That sounds good. It is at least a 12 hour drive from Richmond, including stops. We have done it in 12 hours, but it has taken longer sometimes, because sometimes traffic is bad when you get into Florida. That can be the hardest part of the whole trip, because you are so close, but you are not moving!
