Wondering if anyone has any suggestions on where to stop on the way back from Florida for one night? I was thinking Newark, DE? Would that be a good stop?

Thanks!

Whatever you do, DO NOT STOP AT South of the Boarder, for anything. A couple of years ago driving from Myrtle Beach to Cape Cod we stopped here just to see all the hype, well, the place was a ghost town, nobody around, restrooms were no exaggeration the grossest i have ever been in and i have been to plenty of concerts/red sox/ patriots game etc. The extremely graphic graffiti everywhere was bad, had to rush the kids along hoping they wouldn't notice. I was really disappointed, thought the place would be kinda neat. Again that was April of 09, maybe things have improved :confused3

Ditto on the above post. We camped there once and I felt like I was in one of those bad scary movies. I didn't sleep a wink.

We like to stop in DC for the night and check out the sites while there.

Both times we drove form MA to WDW we stopped at Virginai Beach on the way back...it's just about halfway.

I think pushing it all the way to Delaware is a little bit of a stretch. I'd pick somewhere a little further south in Virginia probably. It's a five hour drive for me to Williamsburg, and it's a six hour drive to Boston to the north from where I live. If you want to take a little extra day, the Virginia 95 corridor has quite a few things to check out.

I live in DE and agree with the pp. The couple of times I have driven to Disney (when I was younger), we broke it into 2 days. However, if you choose to go that far, I can say that you should not have a problem finding a hotel right off I-95. The University of Delaware is located in Newark so there are plenty of hotels to choose from. Good luck.

Aw, my family always stops at South of the Border, although not for the night. We go there knowing it's kinda trashy- we fill up on gas and grab some ice cream, and then continue on our way. Sometimes my dad plays arcade games. I think my mom stopped there as a kid or something, so that's why we go. And for the kitsch factor. *shrug*
I think Delaware's a little far, as well. I'd aim for VA or southern MD.

We've always found Fredricksburg, VA, just north of Richmond, to be a good mid-point. We would get in later at night, but sleep in a bit, grab breakfast by 9 am and hit DC well after the morning rush. We could also clear NYC before the afternoon rush. We never had luck with CT traffic which is the cork in the New England bottle. We would usually go as far up I-95 or the Merritt as we could before traffic came to a stop and have dinner at Friendly's (they are everywhere in CT) to get off the road for a few hours during the peak of rush hour. By the time we resumed travel, the roads were wide open and we'd be in central MA in about 2 hours more travel.
