:flower: Going to Disney with my parents, hubby, and son from April 28-May 7, 2006. Where to stay? Is the Poly worth the $7000.00 price tag for 2 rooms (my mom wants "privacy")? We are trying to decide between Poly, Wilderness Lodge, or Beach Club. Will spend most of our time in MK (5 year old son). Also, what are the chances of prices dropping as the trip get closer? How about a 2BR suite? Do these exist at the Poly or WL through the vacation club? I know the Beach club has them. Help me decide!!!

Poly is a great place. What about a cabin at FW? You can use the boat to go back and forth and it sleeps 6. It's about $150 per night or thereabouts.

I found the monorail access to be great at the Poly for MK but at the time DD was 2 and I brought my own stroller. WL has the boat launch to MK too, so either resort gives easy access to the park you will be in most. Of the two I liked the Poly better, but got a good deal the year we went because travel was slow the summer we went and a promotion was put out (haven't seen one that good since :sad2: I just happened to like the theming at the Poly so that is part of my reason. However, for that much money WL might be a good alternative if you'd rather have extra $$$ for souveniers. Happy planning.

Too many times to list as a kid
Once I “grew” up:
1997 Fort Wilderness (summer); Coronado Springs Christmas
1999 Wilderness Lodge (Spring); Fort Wilderness Christmas/New Years
2002 Polynesian
2003 Caribbean Beach
2004 Took a break after having a baby
2005 Going to Port Orleans Riverside
2006 Going to Grand Floridian

I admit, we loved the monorail access at the POLY. Another option though if you want a 2 bedroom is renting points from a DVC member on the DVC rent/trade forum. You could rent a 2 bedroom villa at WL or BC with a full kitchen, washer/dryer, jacuzzi, etc. for about $4,700 (assuming $10 a point). Worth a look. Good luck.

I was thinking the same thing. I think you would be better off with a villa. You could stay at WLV and have access to the boat to the MK. If you thought you might spend a lot of time in Epcot, you could stay at BCV or BWV and walk to Epcot through the international gateway or take a boat to Epcot and MGM. Check out allears.net to see pics of the villas and if it would work for you.

The VWL has two bedroom villas. Make sure you request a lockoff if you go with a villa. Then your parents could be in the second bedroom and come and go as they please. Plus have the small kitchenette to make their morning coffee. You and your family could have the master bedroom and living room (with full kitchen). And everyone could eat together in the kitchen and sit in the living room.

If you want to rent points, now would be a good time to go for them because VWL is the smallest DVC resort and you still have the home resort advantage. You'll need a member with points at VWL to make your reservation for you.

There is a lot of trust required when you go this way. Both you and the owner have a lot to lose or a lot to gain.
