Mom was in the hospital for 16 months
She is 71 and was healthy as can be before ans was working 40 hours a week.
She had a lot of complications due to surgerys.
including not limited to
2 heart attachs
3 staph infections
a fistulas in her intestine

Now she has a perm illiostomy
and has problems walking due to blockages in her legs
so here is my question
Not sure when we will be going.
It will be pretty short notice.
As soon as Dr. says mom can go to WDW we will hop on the plane & go.
I am thinking 3-days.
Mom can walk but we will take her Wheelchair & walker. For around the Hotel & airport.
She will rent a scooter in the parks.
Where to stay?
I was thinking of a 2-bedroom suite or a JR suite.
I thought maybe it would be cheaper then 2 rooms
I would like to stay on monorail. -Which monorail hotels have these if any?
I was thinking CR.
1- Would really love mom to have a MK view
2- We are trying to stay at WDW hotels- Never stayed at CR- so maybe this would be a possability
3- Want to eat at “ohana Dinner & 1900 Park fare Breakfast- We did this at out WDW fairytale VR-Mom could not go due to illness.

So where do you think we should stay

**I also posted this in the resort forum**

First of all, :welcome: to disABILTIES!

You might want to look at the "disABILTIES! FAQ" which is currently the 2nd item in the index. You might want to consider the possibility of an off-site ECV rental. This would make it available to her at all times, not just in the park. Especially if you are staying in CR you can get to both MK and Epcot without using a bus. In any event, almost all the buses now have ramps which are very easy to use.

You might take her to a large supermarket or WalMart (or equal) and have her drive around one of their ECVs. Be very aware the grocery store one are very difficult compared to Disney's, and the off-site rentals are much better than Disney's ECVs.

I would agree with Contemporary Tower because everything is in the one building and it is faily compact. All the other deluxe resorts are very spread out.

What is called a Junior Suite at the CR is basically an oversize room with a king bed and a sleep sofa. These are all in the wing, not the tower. The Tower Suites are all Concierge level and much more expensive than two rooms.

And again, if you are in CR both 'Ohana and 1900 Park Fare are just a monorail ride away.

Just wanted to clarify one thing from Cheshire Figment. I tend to be a worrier, and if I saw the "almost all of the buses have ramps" I might worry that I would get a bus w/o a ramp.

All of the buses (correct me if I'm wrong CF) have a way to board an ECV unless they are having mechanical problems. The ones that do not have a ramp have a lift.

I rented an offsite ECV for the first time last fall. I highly recommend it. It just makes getting around SO much easier. Plus you can take "walks" around some of the resorts.

I had never ever ever driven an ECV. The nice man at Randy's gave me instructions when I rented it. Then I took it out for a practice run in the Boardwalk area.

If your mother is worried about getting it on the bus, one of you could do that for her if she is able to board on her own. The drivers were all so nice to me.

Good luck.
