We are going to spent two nights at Universal on our upcoming Jan/Feb trip. Which Universal hotel will sleep 5? I know FOTL access is great but do we really need it for Jan. 28-30? Would the five of us be better staying off-site?

Thank

Renee

You won't really need FOTL at the end of January/February, it's one of the best times to visit crowd wise.
The onsite hotels have roll-a-way beds for a slight charge ($25 at the RPR).
It comes down to a convience thing of being able to walk back and forth to the parks. Not sure if you'll go swimming. Lows are usually in the 50s, going up to 75 in the afternoon. The pools are heated, but you never know what the weather will be when you visit. Some people from up north think nothing of 60 degrees, and go swimming in it, so it all depends.
Yes, you'd probably save some money staying offsite. You can see my pages here.

The Hilton Homewood Suites or the Amerisuites would be good choices. It really comes down to whether you want to be able to split up, and walk back and forth from your hotel to the parks.

We've been to Orlando twice the last week of Jan. While it's true that the crowds aren't nearly as bad that week as other times of the year, it is still nice to be able to use FOTL on the more popular rides. And the convenience of being able to walk back to your room is so nice. Last summer we had 5 and we stayed in a deluxe at the Hard Rock. It has two queen beds and a pull-out sofa. There was plenty of room. I would look into that if I were you.

I recommend the HRH deluxe room too. We stayed there in 2003 and really liked the room. Even the fold out sofa wasnt bad sleeping on.
