I know this has been discussed a million times before... but where are the best places to stay at Pop Century? We have 2 rooms for December 9-15 and it will be myself, DH, DMom, DMIL, DD (6 mos).
My DMIL does not get around as well as she used to and we would probably like to be close to the busses/main building so that she doesn't need to walk as far. I know people have recommended not staying on the first floor to avoid the noise of people coming in and out - there are elevators there, I think... Any other ideas???

TIA!!!

if you have a standard view - then ask for a lake view 50's building - as high as possible. ask for a firework view.

if preferred - then 50's building near the food court, again high as possible - and again firework view (this is also parking lot)

Hi
We've stayed in the 50's which are really nice, but we had connecting rooms in August in the 70's, which we liked better. I've stayed in the 70's more, since the rooms that we had, building 10, are closer to the busses and food court. Some of the 70's are preferred and we were very close to the rooms that are preferred. I requested 70's when I made my reservations and then also faxed them a letter about 2 days before my arrival with our request. This past August, we had a first floor room for the first time and we had no problems with it. Actually I liked it better. We didn't have any noise problems and it was really crowded in August. We had a great time at Pop. Maybe we've been lucky, but our rooms have always been reallly clean. We've had really short and really long wait times for the busses. It's a fun place to stay. Have a great trip!

If you want to ensure that you will get a room closer to the main pool/food court, pay the extra and get a preferred room--they are closest. Otherwise, you may get stuck with what you are given. Be advised though that they are NOT the rooms closest to the bus stop. So, pick which is more important to you. Being closer to the main area, depending on if you are near a pool, it may have more noise. Just some things to consider...

HI I'M NEW TO THIS! WE JUST BOOKED OUR WDW VACTION FOR JANUARY, MY 2ND TIME MY SONS FIRST TIME. WE BOOKED POP CENTURY, PREFERRED ROOM AND REQUESTED A REFRIGERATOR. DO YOU REALLY THINK IT'S WORTH IT? WILL ONLY BE THERE FOR 5 DAYS AND THEN LEAVING ON A CRUISE. SO ANY FOOD OR DRINK THAT I BRING WILL BE REALLY LIMITED.

Check out one of the fridge swaps over on the budget board! It will be free for your stay, then you just send it back to luggage services for the next Disser coming after you!

To the OP, we stayed in the 50's lakeside in 3416 (4th floor) and loved it! It would be far to walk for an older person that does not get around as well (I thought of my parents when we were there). But the location was quiet, had fireworks view every night of Illuminations, and sunset views in the evenings. Parking was pretty close (but pulling a luggage cart over those cobblestone areas was crazy!). Just to keep all this in mind on a trip when you're maybe not having to consider being close to the bus stop.:goodvibes

I stayed first floor in building number 2 in the 50's back in March and LOVED it.

I experienced no noise issues whatsoever and the pool was RIGHT outside our door! This surprised me.. I was prepared for noise. We didn't hear a peep.

Of all the things.. this made me worry about my hearing. Maybe it's going.

We've been in the 70's both times there and really liked it. We were on the 1st (in back) and then 2nd(in front) floors amd they were both fine. This is close enough to buses, food court without the crowds near the pool.

My DMIL does not get around as well as she used to and we would probably like to be close to the busses/main building so that she doesn't need to walk as far. ......

Has your MIL concidered renting a mobility scooter?

I would recommend that due to limited mobility perhaps she should rent an EVC (Electric scooter) from an offsite company.
I have limited mobility and have rented mine from Care Medical (800-741-2282) and Walker Mobility (888-726-6837) in the past. I would recommend either one. The cost is about $30 a day. The ones at the parks cost $35 a day and are bigger and have 4 wheels kinda like a golf cart. They are much harder to steer and to control. If she rents from an offsite rental they will deliver the EVC to bell services at the resort. She can use it to go to the pool, and get around the resort as well as the bus stop.

Almost all the Disney buses are accessible. I love using my EVC it gives me more independence and helps keep my pain to a minimum. If she decides to rent an EVC but is unfamiliar with them she can practice using one at a local store such as Wal Mart or Target. Those are a little bigger than the rental ones but the practice will help.

Disney started mainstreaming most of their lines in the late 1990's. Those in WC/EVC will usually enter in the regular line. She will be able to stay in the EVC until just before boarding most of the time.
Sometimes the WC/EVC ( and up to 5 members of his party) may be pulled from the mainstream line part way down so they can board the ride in an
Accessible area. * NOTE: They are not being taken to the front of the line but rather to an area where the ride will be accessible to them.
EVC's can't climb steps so sometimes they need to take an elevator. Or they may need to board a ride where the riders usually exit in case
they need an accessible vehicle or need the moving sidewalk slowed or stopped so they can board.
