This will be our first trip to Disney as adults. We will be bringing our 3 year old daughter and my mother. We are trying to decide if staying at a deluxe resort (the Polynesian) is worth the extra cost over staying at either a moderate POFQ or a value - Pop. The difference in price is about $750 from the deluxe to the moderate and then about $200 from the moderate to the value.
We will be going for a long weekend at the end of Sept. - Friday to Monday.

I am wondering if having direct access to the monorail is worth the difference in price. We are not really on a specific budget, and I do believe that you get what you pay for, but if the advantages are not huge, the difference in $ may be better spent on park tickets etc. All of my friends seem to have different opinions, and I cannot make up my mind. Some say I'd be crazy not to spend the extra $ and not go to the POLY, others say I'd be crazy not to save the dough and go for the better deal.

Also, I will be about 27 weeks pregnant when we go.

Sorry to be so long winded. Thank you for any help!

Hard to say... If you'll be going back with 2 (or 3) young children and saving the money now makes a difference later, I would save it now. On the other hand, being pregnant makes a pretty good case for staying at the Poly!

if money was not an issue to me, I would definitely do deluxe, just for the reason that the deluxe resorts are a little nicer. It is also very worth being on teh monorail loop when pregnant. You'll most likely be exhausted!

If you are planning on spending some down time at the hotel, than I would choose the Poly. You will probably find with a 3-year old that at least an afternoon nap is in order. Have a wonderful time. :)

Normally I would say the moderates are the best deal. To me they are worth the upgrade from the value resorts most of the time. I don't usually feel that the deluxe resorts are worth quite as much additional cost as compared to the moderates....HOWEVER, since you have a young child still needing naps, you are pregnant and the Poly is on the monorail I would opt for the Poly if I could afford it without taking money from other parts of the trip. If money isn't a problem go for the Poly. If you would like to find a place to save some $$ then go for the POFQ. You will have a fantastic time either way.

When I first started reading your post, I was going to recommend POFQ. BUT...after reading on and seeing that you are pregnant as well as having a 3 year old, I really think you will be more comfortable at the Poly. I stayed there with 3 little ones (one in a stroller) and it made the world of difference. You can literally push your 3 year old out of your room in the stroller and right into the MK without getting her out. The trip back to your room for a nap or rest will be so quick and simple too. Have a fabulous time!:flower3:

Oh heck! If I had a 3 year old and was 27 weeks preggo you'd better believe i want to be on that monorail!!!!!!! I have an almost 3 year old, and a 6 year old, am NOT preggo and I STILL want to be on that monorail. :goodvibes Seriously, Poly on the monorail is worth every.single.penny. You WILL NOT regret it. Poly is my fav though so I am a little biased but nothing beats that monorail.

I would definitely stay at the Polynesian. I have stayed on the monorail (Grand Floridian) and several times at moderates. They are nice, but the resorts on the monorail are nicer and much more convenient.

I agree that with a 3 y.o. needing naps in the afternoon the convenience of being on the Monorail is huge. It is worth the difference, IMO. I would go with the Poly.
If you decide not to spend that amount of money POFQ is very nice too. You will just have to fold up the stroller for all bus trips, which will take longer to get back for a nap than just walking on the monorail to the Poly.

Poly Poly Poly:cheer2: I stayed there last August, then did a moderate in October, and I would have upgraded on the spot if I had the funds to do so. Not only is it an amazing hotel, the convenience of the monorail, and being right next to the TTC means you are possibly the best off resort for transport anywhere:goodvibes In your situation you would find it a lifesaver:thumbsup2

Poly has bigger rooms, superior transportation, better pool with 0 entry (great for little kids). In your case, I think you will find the access to the monorail worth every penny.

I vote for the POLY. The room is nice and big. 2 Queens and a day bed. I don't know about you, but when I was pregnant I wanted to be comfortable. I wanted my space. The POLY will allow your 3 year old enough room to run around, it will also allow space for your mom as well. Having the added bonus of a balcony or patio is nice. I've stayed at POP, although I loved POP, I felt like we were on top of each other. We stayed at the POLY this past March and it was definitely worth every penny.

I think you are getting the hint by now, but I'll throw in my vote for the Poly too.:thumbsup2 You won't regret it.

Casting another vote for Poly for you. If nothing else than convience sake. Both you and your 3 yo will need naps and this is the best transportation to 2 parks for it. Did you consider CR? It's even closer than Poly to MK, a 5 min walk. The walk is actually quicker than waiting for the monorail after park closing. During the midday you wouldn't have an issue of the monorail being crowded.

If money is not an issue, go for the Poly!! It will make your expereince that much sweeter!!

I would stay at the Poly. It is very soothing and relaxing. Being pregnant I am sure you will enjoy watching the fireworks from the beach and having the monorail right there is a treat. As long as you can afford to do so, I say Poly all the way! Enjoy your trip!:cool2:
