Where to stay, one night not visiting parks?

We are spending a week at the GF in August then a week at Naples beach. Our flight back goes out of Orlando, and is in the morning (11.25), so we intend returning to Orlando the day before we leave.

Any suggestions as to where we should stay? I was thinking of staying at BWI (hope there are some room only codes) or the Swan/Dolphin and spending the evening at Boardwalk or DD.

Any suggestions? While I would love to go to one park that day, I can't justify the $150 it would probably cost for a one day ticket for all the family, just to spend a couple of hours at the parks. I'm sure there are plenty of nice things to do outside of the parks, so any input welcomed.

Thanks in advance

Joanna

I think that the Boardwalk area would be a great choice. There is so much going on!

I would probably choose AKL, though. It is so relaxing there. It would be a wonderful way to end a vacation. Just sit back on your balcony a soak up the view!

Have fun with whatever you choose.

Akl or BW are great choices-also WL-it depends on if you want to relax, shop, sit by the pool.

So, you're planning to drive from Naples back to Orlando? You're looking at about 200 miles and probably 4 hours to do so. Then, your plane leaves at 11:30ish the next day and you should arrange to get there around 10:00, factor in dropping off the car and driving from WDW area you're leaving at 8:30-9:00 am. That doesn't leave a lot of time at your resort :(.

If price is no object, I would pick a cool resort that has a fun pool. The Polyneasian, Boardwalk, Y&BC and ALK all have fun pools. If you want to save a little $$, maybe the Swan or Dolphin would work for you too. They have a fun pool and you might be able to get a great rate.

Another option is to get Annual Passes for your group. You are pretty close to the break-even point at 8 days and 7 nights. Here is an analysis of the APs v/s Hoppers and UPH: http://wdwig.com/breakeven.htm If you don't plan on going to the water parks and/or Pleasure Island your break-even is even lower with a parks-only AP.

The other advantages to APs is (1) You can get great rates at resorts. Perhaps an even better deal than you have now. (2) You can return within the year and your ticket media is paid for!

Since you aren't going to any of the parks, conveniece to those parks is not a concern. I would suggest either AKL or WL. They are attractions in and of themselves, and you won't have to worry about the transportation issues!
