where to stay near SeaWorld?

I'm wanting to plan a trip...just me and the kiddos! I want to fly into San Diego for Seaworld, then head up to Disneyland. But where to stay NEAR Sea World? I dont want to rent a car so I need to be close, but want to feel safe for the walk. I do not know the area so I hope I'm not offending anyone! We have only been once and I remember our hotel being in a bad area!!!

I posted this in the Southern California Forum also, but am not getting much response!

Not sure if it is in walking distance, but the Old Town Inn has amazing reviews on trip advisor. I just booked it last night for Apr 17-19th

I've also heard nothing is really walking distance. I am going for 2 days next week and I got Paradise Point Resort through Priceline for $95 a night. Reviews are mixed for this resort (great location, so-so rooms), but for $95 a night I was thrilled!

I stayed here back when it was the Princess Resort for a long weekend with my family, and it is REALLY close to Sea World. We watched their fireworks from our room, which was really cool.

We stayed in a really nice Days Inn down on Hotel Circle our last trip, it had a fridge, micro, coffee maker, and it's own little cafe. And it was a good price.

The closest hotels would be either the Dana Inn or the Hyatt Islandia...either of them would still be a pretty good walk to Sea World, though - as the crow flies it's over half a mile, but to do it on sidewalks is much more circuitous - it's about a mile from the Dana to the park entrance (not the parking lot, the actual park itself), and about 1.25 miles from the Hyatt.
