Where to stay in Vancouver

Just get a taxi it's like 35 dollars to where the ship is from airport. And it's Canadian 35 dollars so it's not that much

We are flying into Seattle and then driving to Vancouver, because it was about $110 cheaper PER ticket for us. Our rental car drop off (National) is at the port, so that opened up tons of possibilities for us on where to stay, and we rented a house on VRBO. Since there are 6 of us, it actually ended up being cheaper than a hotel and we don't have to pay for parking! Good luck.

We stayed at the Pan Pacific and loved it. You can watch the ship come in to port and get some great photos. I am looking at staying there again.

We took the members cruise to Alaska 2015, splurged and stayed 4 nights at Pan Pacific, b'fast included, booked about a year in advance for the free b'fast aaa rate, . great experience. After cruise took taxi to Fairmont Airport hotel, top class hotel, loved it. Got excellent rate by booking through Southwest Airlines, saved a lot of money. Secret tip, ( maybe not so secret anymore) depending on work flow, the doormen, bellhops, will drive you short distances in the hotel car. Shh, don't tell anyone. Another tip, walk around the airport, lots of nice shops, look for coupons for airport restaurants. Too late for us but we found a coupon for a good discount for one of the restaurant in the Fairmont.

What would be the easiest and most cost effective way to get downtown from the Vancouver airport for a group of 15?

We are going from Vancouver to San diego, August 2016. Plan to get there couple of days early to tour Vancouver, any other recommendation for budget place to stay.
Thanks,

We just booked Times Sqaure Suites for August, at a pretty good rate.

The Pan Pacific is right above Canada Place. Should take you about 2 minutes to get downstairs the terminal :)

Oh boy did we LOVE this hotel. The location was fantastic, the views amazing and the convenience was unbeatable. Called the porter in the morning and he came and got our bags and took everything down to the ship. We got on the special elevator in the lobby and went right down to the terminal. Most convenient check in ever. I checked online for months and kept an eye on their specials and got a tremendous deal using our AAA card.

The Fairmont at the airport is also lovely - we were booked in there at the end of our land portion of our Alaska cruise with HAL. Very sound proof, convenient to the food court and really nice staff.

And I cannot agree more about spending time in Vancouver -- we spent three days pre-cruise and it is a truly lovely city. Took the hop on/hop off bus (walked out the hotel and just took the best deal they were offering at the booth). Be sure to get a Japadog. They are an experience unto themselves LOL The Pan Pacific is right next to the park that has the original Olympic flame structure.

We're staying at a really cute AirBnB place within walking distance of the port after the cruise - there's a ton of places to book, and they're all over the city.

loved the delta vancouver last year. it didn't feel "budget" though. clean, modern, well-kept, had friendly staff, and within walking distance to the cruise terminal even with two kids and lots of luggage. highly recommend.

We have booked the St Regis for $349 Cdn, including breakfast. On Expedia, it says they are sold out - I booked directly with the hotel, and they had rooms available. It gets top marks from the Lonely Planet and on Tripadvisor. 10 min walk to the cruise ship terminal.
We looked at the Sheraton Wall Centre, because my BIL has Starwood points - it was $809 per night - ouch!
