Where to stay if not going to parks?

Hi--we are going on a cruise in May, and are going to stay at WDW for a couple days after. We are considering not going to the parks and just staying at a fun resort and doing all the things we never do when we are rushing around on a typical WDW visit. BC has really caught my eye b/c of the pools; we usually stay around MK b/c that's where we go the most, but now that's irrelevant.

Is SAB fun enough to spend a couple of days around? Also, can't we take a boat to DD from BC?

Any other ideas?

TIA!! :flower:

no boats to DD - only boats to Epcot and Studio.

If you really don't want to do the parks - go for PO, OKW or SSR - they are not near enough to the parks that you kids would get upset and want to go the parks.

OKW can be very relaxing. It doesn't have the great swimming pool that BC has - but it has a brand new slide - that I think your kids would enjoy.

plus you can get a 2-bedroom villa renting from a DVC member for around the same price as a hotel room from CRO.

then you can really relax.

I think you should stay at the YC/BC or BWI. We love BWI, and have stayed there when we only visited Epcot. The rest of the days we were there we simply hung around the pool, walked along the Boardwalk, tried the different restaurants, rented surrey bikes to ride around Crescent Lake, and took Disney busses to see the other resorts. We also spent time at DTD.

YC/BC looks like a lot of fun with that great pool. We are going to try this resort soon.

My vote is for Yacht/Beach - Stormalong bay is like a water park all by itself. The resort and the restaurants are wonderful. If I had the money for it, I'd be there!

I vote for AKL. The kids would love the animals plus they have a great pool.

I also vote for AKL..YC/BC looks nice too but the kids will be fascinated by the animals all trip!

Thanks everybody! Great ideas! So many resorts, so little time . . . . :goodvibes

Maybe I'll see if either AKL or BC has a discount code at that time, and decide from there.

Thanks for your help! :earsboy:

Another vote for Beach Club
SAB is awesome, plus you have the whole boardwalk at your disposal.

Have Fun.

In your case, the AKL would be heads and shoulders above all others. There are so many activities there, and the pool is never crowded--SAB becomes a ZOO!!!

Also because you aren't walking distance to the parks you'll never have that tug to go there--out of sight, out of mind.

I couldn't agree more!!!!!!!!

I am not doing the parks for 3 nights at the end of April. We are staying at POR due to money constraints, but if I could pick any resort it would be the AKL. There are so many activities, animals to watch, and the pool is fabulous.
