My wife and I are have now been for five years straight with our last two visits being at AKL, which we loved. This year we are torn between Boardwalk, Wilderness Lodge, and Contemporary with our main concern being that we want a "new" experience from that which AKL provided. Any advice is appreciated

*Edit - Planned for August into September / Planning on renting via DVC

Any of those would definitely be a new experience. Which appeals to you the most? Watch some YouTube videos to check out the rooms, pool and grounds. Think about where the majority of your time will be spent- if it’s MK, the Contemporary is only a walk away, and WL a boat ride away. If it’s Epcot, then BW is a short walk away, with easy access to the Studios as well.
If this is a pool and resort heavy stay, then I think WL has the prettiest pool of those choices.
I always recommend watching videos of the resorts. See if one “calls” to you, or piques your interest. Or you see that one definitely does not appeal, and that would shorten your list.
You can’t go wrong with any of them, really, so just pick the one that your heart says to. (Or do a split stay if you truly can’t decide, lol)
Good luck

Yes sorry this is planned for late August into September

Ahh, thanks.

In case you don’t know, CR is about to start a refurb. Tower rooms aren’t available to book from roughly April to end of Sept. The Garden Wing is available to book though.

Also BWI (the resort side) doesn’t have a reopening date so it can’t be booked (unless you’re talking about booking a Villa room).

Sorry if you’ve already taken that into account, just making sure.

Yes another thing I forgot to mention, we will be utilizing a DVC rental service for this trip. We used it for AKL last year and it worked out wonderfully

Just so you know, CR is not a DVC property, you would have to rent at BLT and use the dining and shopping facilities at CR.

Ahhh, got it - thanks! So we’re really talking:

Bay Lake Tower
vs
Copper Creek Villas
vs
Boulder Ridge Villas
vs
BoardWalk Villas

This is a decision where I don’t think you would be disappointed with any of these choices. I personally lean towards Wilderness Lodge first. I love the serenity of their grounds. The architecture is stunning and has a bit of similarity to AKL, but is distinctly its own. The pools are also some of my favorites because you can really have the loud fun slide pool vs the more soothing quiet large more adult pool choice. The boat to MK and the boat to the CR gives us lots of options if we want to eat at or visit a monorail resort. We often have stayed CR. I love to walk to MK. Being on the monorail gives us easy access to Poly for dining and drinks. I love the rooms ( not stayed in dvc portion). We have stayed at Beach and Yacht Club, but never BW. I enjoy that area, but my heart is always closest to MK.

They are all good choices. I would pick Copper Creek over BR right now since BR is a little in need of a refurb.
I would probably do a split stay with Cc/Bw if I was planning a trip.
I think Wilderness Lodge has the best grounds to really relax, nice pools and good food choices. You can also go over to CR and FW for more dining options. BW would be my second choice. Love the pool and the walks to DHS and Epcot. Can also walk to the skyliner and try dining at Riviera.
BLT is nice for walking over to MK and has good food options. I tend to find it a bit sterile and the grounds/pool a bit lacking. Hard to beat overlooking MK though. Loved the walk over the bridge from BLT to CR every morning.

We've gone during that timeframe (except in 2020) for the past 8 years. I can't emphasize how hot it will be. Personally, I would think about your park touring plan and decide which resort will be most convenient in terms of transportation. If you will mostly be visiting EP/DHS, go with BWV. If you will mostly be visiting MK (and EP if the monorail from TTC is running during that time), go with BLT. CCV is gorgeous (I wouldn't do BRV right now - the rooms need a refurb), but transportation to the parks other then MK can be cumbersome if they start sharing buses with Ft. W during your stay. Of the three, I prefer BWV. You can't beat having two parks and countless restaurants and recreation options within walking distance.

I’ve only stayed at WL, but have walked through CR and BW. Neither were appealing to me.
I love the WL. I would pick CCV because like the other person said BRV is in need of a refurb.
If it like it has been in the past CCV book up fast. Might not be that hard to book since covid.

Wow thanks everyone! The only available DVC rental is for BRV at Wilderness currently, I wasn't aware that it was in such need of a refurb. BWV looks great also, I'm just worried that many of the amenities will be closed off as they were for AKL last year..

The CR/WL/FW boat is NOT running yet, so don't count on it to get to dining options at other resorts. The WL to MK boat IS running.

If you stay at BLT , you will have many options for dining via monorail and won’t have to worry about weather as much. Also like the freedom of walking early mornings or for sunset views surrounding the resort.
You have a daily sunrise & sunset to enjoy plus the moon and stars.

Depends on your likes a bit. I might go GF since rentlng DVC and stay one less night. The points would equal out to be same as CR. You will have the new walking path the Magic Kingdom. You will have a short walk to Poly which is being completly redone. You will have use of the fitness center if that is something you like. Many great places to eat at Poly, GF, and CR and all on monorail line. Just thoughts.........

100% agree with everything in this post! I think we share a brain, lol.

My husband and I love the 1BR Villas at BWV. Plus, they are so convenient for the F&W Festival (assuming it's happening) at this time of year!
