Where to stay for the Honeymoon?

My fiancee and I are going to spend our Honeymoon at Disney World. I have been there about five times but have only stayed at Carribean Beach and Pop Century. We want to stay somewhere nice on property and want to stay somewhere where we haven't stayed before. We are not sure of our price range yet, but at minimum we would probably want to stay at a Moderate resort? We would stay at a value if a good case could be made for one but would prefer something nicer. We aregoing on our honeymoon in May of 09. Could anyone give us suggestions on where to stay for our honeymoon? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I really think that the Wilderness Lodge is the best place to stay for a honeymoon when you want it to be special but don't want to pay a LOT of money. It's the most reasonable of the deluxe resorts and is very beautiful and romantic! It's also just a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom.

If money is no object, that's a different story but I'd definitely say the Wilderness Lodge is the most bang for your buck!

I love the Wilderness Lodge too. It's definitely my favorite Deluxe resort and, in my opinion, the most romantic atmosphere.

But if you can't afford a deluxe I'd go with Coronado Springs. It's a beautiful resort and I think better than Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans. It's just well kept and I don't really think Caribbean Beach is..but as far as moderate resorts go, Port Orleans would be my second choice. I would make sure you ask for a room close to the main part of the hotel though if you stay at Coronado (or any moderate resort for that matter). Some of the rooms are FAR away from the main building.

In order to pick the best resort for your honeymoon, you have to think about what kind of vacation you want to have. Ask yourself these questions: Will you be spending most of your time park hopping? Is your hotel just a place to sleep at night? Do you want something that offers a lot of privacy? Do you plan to do a lot of "vegging" as in a lot of relaxing and sitting poolside? What time of year do you expect to take your honeymoon?

The reason you need to think about these things, is because every resort offers a different atmosphere, and the feelings become increasingly different the more expensive the hotels get. I can make a case for any resort on property depending on your expectations. No matter what resort you choose, you should look up "great times to visit" on the Disney website. Consider planning your vacation for a suggested time frame when crowds are lightest and hotels are at their least expensive. Also consider booking your vacation with expedia.com which will give you discounted rates when you buy your plane tickets, park tickets, and hotel room all at once.

I agree with you on the Caribbean Beach. I stayed there and I couldnt believe it was a Disney resort! It was dirty!!!

Another thing to consider is staying at more than one resort. This could be a good way to try a Deluxe resort without paying to stay there the whole time. If you can spend 2 or more days at each place, it won't feel like you're moving all the time.

The Wilderness Lodge is a great choice! It's beautiful and relaxing and close to the Magic Kingdom. Don't forget to veg out in those big comfy chairs by the fireplace on the main floor!

We are renting Disney Vacation Points and staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge! I am so excited and think it is going to be perfect!

What kind of vacation are you thinking of for your honeymoon?

We are normally very frugal people i.e. moderate or value resort people, but I think we may go with a Deluxe resort as this is one time we can really justify spending this much money. We will probably spend most of our time at the parks with one or two days of vegging. We will most likely be going around the 10th of May but may have to postpone until September or possibly January. We are mainly looking at hotels that are not on the monorail as my fiancee has a medical condition that is not monorail friendly. We were looking at the Yacht club for awhile...but we aren't sure. I have been to Disney many times but have not stayed at any of the Deluxe hotels. Where are all of you staying on your honeymoons, and why?

We stayed at the Beach Club (on rented DVC points) for 5 days, transferred to the Contemporary for two nights, stayed at Animal Kingdom Villas (on rented DVC points) for 5 nights, and then had our last night at the Grand Floridian. We wanted to try as many different hotel experiences as possible but still have a few long stints in some of them.

We picked Beach Club for the atmosphere and convenience to Epcot - it turned out to be our fave. We loved being able to walk to Epcot or to the BoardWalk for dinner, plus the pool is basically a mini water park.

We picked the Contemporary for its monorail and convenience to MK (not an option for you, however).

We picked Animal Kingdom for the atmosphere and the experience of seeing animals from our balcony.

And we picked the Grand Floridian because it was comped as part of our Wishes wedding package. It was nice, but I wouldn't pay to stay there unless I could afford to be in the main building.

We've decided to stay at Coronado Springs for our honeymoon this August. We wanted a moderate resort because we wanted it to be nice, but we also wanted to save some money. Of course if I could, I would have gone with the Grand Floridian like many people suggest, but that's not always a big possibility! In fact, we thought about upgrading our hotel to a Deluxe, but then decided to upgrade our DDP to Deluxe instead so we could get more and nicer meals.
I've also been to Caribbean Beach and to Port Orleans Riverside (it was Dixie Landings at the time I was there) awhile back, so it kinda seems logical for me to go to the moderate resort I haven't yet stayed at. My fiancee, on the other hand, hasn't been to ANY of the on site resorts, so I think he'll be nicely surprised by it.
Another case for CSR on our honeymoon is that it is also a convention center, so from what I've heard, there are fewer kids running around. Don't get me wrong, I know it's Disney World, so yes, I definitely expect kids to be a presence, but I think this may be a quieter and more relaxing spot. I've seen some pictures and I'm so excited!

We're staying at the Beach Club for the days preceding our wedding because we're getting married at Sea Breeze Point and having our reception at Shula's at the Dolphin, so I knew I wanted a place that was within walking distance to everything. Plus, I've never stayed and looking forward to the closeness of Epcot and the boats to MGM.

We're staying at the Wilderness Lodge for the honeymoon because we both have never stayed there and we've heard pics do not do it justice. We were in the honeymoon suite, but downgraded because we knew we weren't going to be there for much time and thought in the end it's a waste of money for just a name. If we were vegging out we'd have stayed in a nicer room, but that's not us.

I had originally planned on CSR because of the price, and a few other reasons. Looked wonderful. But when we called to book it, they had nothing available. Nothing? Maybe there's a huge convention that week. Anyway, we had to quickly choose another resort, and I disliked all the other moderates, and since it 's a honeymoon and our first trip ever to WDW, I didn't want the value. So we decided on Wilderness Lodge. And the more I read about it, the more excited I get.

We stayed in the Wilderness Lodge for ours back in October, and I can't say enough nice things about it. It was just wonderful. At first I wanted to stay at Animal Kingdom, to be able to see the Animals in the morning, but the difference in price was so great that we HAD to at least consider WL.

Then, I started reading that WL was supposed to be pretty romantic too. I thought it was. And very scenic. Plus, when DH booked it, he told them we were booking our honeymoon. I don't know if that made a difference or not, but we ended up in the honeymoon suite, and DH said that the price difference for booking it was so small, it seemed silly not to take it, since it gave us the jacuzzi tub in the room (and DH is ALL about getting a good deal!) Plus, WL is a little easier access to the parks than some of the resorts - taking the boat over to where you can get to the monorail isn't nearly as bad as trying to catch some of the buses.

Overall, we said we would absolutely LOVE to stay there again. The whole theme of the WL really appeals to both of us. And we loved Whispering Canyon Cafe too - that's where we had our wedding luncheon. The food was GREAT, and they gave us great service and did a great job with where they put us (separate from the main dining room, for about 20 people).
