Where to stay for Kennedy Space Center?

Dh wants to go to KSC pre WDW trip this summer. I was hoping that there would be somewhere nice on the beach (or walking distance) to stay at.
Anyone have any suggestions? We are looking just for two nights,flight probably wont get us in early enough to go to KSC the first day,so we will need two nights near there.

Have you looked at Cocoa Beach or Cape Canaveral? We stay there when we go on cruises. THere are several hotels on the beach. You might look when shuttles are scheduled to take off.

Sorry I didnt reply, we've been w/o power due to an ice storm last thursday, and are still waiting for it to come back on.

Im wondering what hotels are on the beach and which ones do you recommend?

We are thinking about cruising in 08 and it would be nice to know a good one for future use.
