Hi Everybody!

This is my first time on one of these boards here! I'm really excited...looks like there is some wonderful advice and expertise available here! We are getting married 10/12/02, and definitely are coming to WDW! Although I've been to WDW several times, just wondering what your opinions for romantic places to stay! We were thinking the Polynesian, but there are so many different kinds of rooms...just wondering which are the best for honeymooners! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, and good luck to everyone!

Erika;) :p

Hi Octoberbride02,

Welcome to the DIS. I think where you stay depends on your budget. When we got married back in Aug of 1993 we were saving for a house so we stayed at a moderate. We stayed at POFQ and enjoyed our stay very much.

If you can afford a deluxe then a would reconmend the AKL. It is beautiful and so relaxing. When we stayed there in 2001 we had to tear ourselves away to go to the parks. You get the feeling of just watching the animals go by. We are from a city so I cannot put into words the feeling we got watching zebra and wilderbeast go by.

Hope this helps you out.

Will definitely check out the Animal Kingdom Lodge!! Thanks for the great advice! Congrats on your 9th anniversary coming up!!

these message boards really help with alot of things-

as for a nicre place to honeymoon, it does depend on your budget, i think the polynesian is great, i never stayed there but visit it when i go to disney, i ve stayed at the wl, and i think they have like a honeymoon suite, that has a king bed i think and a whirlpool hot tub thingy,

there are so many great places to stay, just keep searching and researching

i m going in jan and it will be the first trip wit my girlfriend so i am going nuts trying to pick the perfetc place to stay and stuff

but keep looking at these boards , the people here are great and really give great info

The Polynesian is a great resort for a honeymoon. It is just like being in the South Pacific. I would suggest booking a lagoon view room and requesting the Tahiti Longhouse, or booking a concierge lagoon view room. Both room types have direct views of Cinderella's Castle across the lagoon, and are perfect for watching fireworks from.

The Grand Floridian is also a wonderful resort. They have some special concierge honeymoon rooms, however, they are around $650 a night in October. The resort also has lagoon view rooms - some with king size beds and vaulted ceilings.

The Wilderness Lodge has some special honeymoon rooms, located on the 7th floor concierge level. These are actually a pretty good 'value' as far as Disney resorts go. They have king size beds, and jacuzzi tubs. However, they are sometimes very difficult to get (there are only 4 of them).

You are welcome Erika.

Thanks to everyone for your great advice!! Now, it's just a matter of $$$, and some more research!! These boards are so wonderful! Hopefully, someday, I can be of some help to all of you...when I'm a full-fledged Disney-goer!!!

Thanks again,
ERika:bounce: :p

This current discounts out end 10/2 but hopefully soon there will be some coming out for your honeymoon time. If they are as good as the fall fling they should save you quite a bit. I agree either the Poly or the AKL would be great.

Congrats on you up coming wedding!

Octoberbride02, my fiance and I were faced with a similar problem...we were going to stay in the contemporary under the shades of green (military) prices, but then ended up discussing the decision with my family (disney fanatics) and all of my aunts and uncles and my parents said that we should not settle for something that you are unsure about, and to splurge because ihis is your only honeymoon...so we decided to splurge and are staying at the poly--we went ahead and booked now, and are going to keep our eyes peeled for discount codes, etc. to bring the price down. :) so good luck choosing!! I hope you have a wonderful honeymoon!!!

hi: my son and dil spent their honeymoon with 5days in a 1br villa at bwv and 5 days at the gf. those were their choices, and we've stayed at all of the deluxes except akl.

WELCOME to the DIS!!! :D

Nice name!!! ;)

If you can afford it I would recommend either the Grand Floridian or the Boardwalk Inn. The GF offers beautiful honeymoon rooms with views of the Magic Kingdom. :) The BWI offers great views of Epcot and Illuminations. Both resorts are beautiful and very romantic. Not as many kids running around, so it feels like a more "grownup" Disney trip. ;)

If that's a little too much money, then I'd go with the Caribbean Beach Resort. It's the nicest and most romantic moderate resort. (in my opinion)

You'll find lots of info here at the DIS. Also check out http://www.wdwig.com for more information. ;)

Congratulations!!!

Hi! I'm getting married at WDW next October.. :D anyways I just wanted to chime in because we're in the same boat trying to choose for our stay before the wedding and for our Honeymoon. We really love the Poly and the GF though it is pricey. But we've also considered the AKL... which is gorgeous, but we've always wanted to go on Safari... one bonus for AKL guests is the Sunrise Safari on special days. From what I understand, they have certain days that they do this and what happens is (for an added fee) you get to go into the AK around sunrise and take a special Safari trip. I've read a few reviews on it and they all seemed very positive saying you get closer to the animals then on the normal Safari during the day, and afterwards there's a breakfast buffet for all who went at the AK.
Also, there's a show on the Travel Channel called Great Hotels which has featured the Grand Floridian, Animal Kingdom lodge, and Yacht and Beach Clubs. If you have the Travel Channel it's worth seeing because it will give you an idea of what those resorts look like (plus the Sunrise Safari is featured on the AKL episode). Just check your listings for times and such...
Well I hope I haven't made things worse, but you could always break your Honeymoon up and stay at 2 or more resorts if you really can't decide ;)

Just an FYI. The Sunrise Safari is only for concierge(sp?) guests.

We stayed at the POR for 3 nights and 9 nights at the BC. At the BC we were upgraded to a kingbed room and had a water view. We paid for a standard room. The room was on the first floor and very secluded. It is the room to left of the volleyball net if you are facing the BC. They also left a very nice, large heart shaped basket filled with chocolates and other goodies and bath products. Concierge also called us and offered their assitance with any ressies. They called 3 times while we were there, once just to see how everything was and if they could do anything. It made the occassion more special. We also spend evenings on the beach sitting on the swings watching the fireworks. We were all alone. Just my 2 cents. Something to consider.;)
