Where to stay at the beach?

Ok I have decide to plan a stay at the beach after our DW vacation. What hotels would you recomend? They don't have to be fancy I'm sure by then we will have spent nearly everything!

cheesehead (just a gentle tease - some of my best friends are from Wisconsin!). Definitely check out Disney's Vero Beach Resort. You may be able to get a discount with Disney Club.

And since the "theme" (not really overwhelming like at WDW) is "Peter Pan", you've got the perfect name.

Thanks for the info. How much is Vero Beach? Does the Disney web site have more info on this resort?

and view. We stayed in the main lodge (typical nice hotel room with a small kitchenette , standard view, for $139 night...but that was 3 years ago. They also have larger accomodations like at OKW.

I think you can get additional info at the www.disney web site. You might want to look at the DVC board, too.

If you want to stay right on the beach, you will pay top dollar unless you are going off season, so DVB's prices may be right in line with everywhere else.

Hi Wendy,

If Vero is not your choice, then Sanibel / Captiva would be great - but alot further of a drive. I'd say it is 4 to 5 hours. The Seven Seas Resort on Sanibel might be good. Marco Island is also very nice. Marriott, Hilton and Radisson are right on the beach. Cost per night without a deal would be $100 + in the summer and alot higher at most other times.

Time to get out the AAA Tourbook! Have fun!

We stayed at Melbourne Beach a few times and loved it - but bear in mind that it is not a "resort" type beach. Lovely views but narrow beach. Any of the hotels right on the beach are nice. Not a far drive at all. But if you are looking for things to entertain the kids, maybe it's not a super choice. Depends how long you are going to stay and how much built-in entertainment you're looking for. We've never combined Disney and the beach because we prefer to saturate (?) ourselves with one or the other! Have a great time.

I only want to stay 2 or 3 nights I thought it would be fun for the kids considering they have never seen the ocean. All we want to do is relax!
