Where to stay 9 people

Hello everyone!

New to the forums, trying to plan a trip for our family of 4. Kids ages 3 & 5 and my brothers family kids ages 9,7,5. We would like to be in the same room or connecting rooms. I have looked at all of the resorts we all like the idea of having access to the monorail but I'm not sure which resort would be best? I was liking BLT however the reviews on trip adviser are not that great for a cash guest. Wilderness lodge looks great but I'm un clear if they could accommodate our group. We are planning for September 2014 for 5 days with dinning. Any advice would be very appreciated.

We are staying BLT for the first time this summer and I am pretty optimistic. If you really want the monorail, you can go for connecting rooms at the Poly or GF. WL is not on the monorail, but does provide boat service to MK. Rooms at WL are a little smaller than other deluxes. Another possibility would be the villas at WL. You could all stay in one unit that way.

The monorail resorts (CR, Poly, GF) would provide the largest room for the family of 5 (with all rooms at the Poly & CR having a daybed and most rooms at the GF having one). You would need to request connecting rooms when you make the reservation, but keep in mind that it's just a request and is not guaranteed. The WL will not accommodate the family of 5 in one room as a standard room at the WL only accommodates 4 + 1 under the age of 3. Depending on your budget, there are deluxe rooms at the WL that accommodate 6, but they are quite a bit more expensive than a standard room since all of the deluxe rooms are on club level. We've stayed at two of the monorail resorts (Poly and GF) as well as the WL, and although the Poly is our favorite, we love them all. As far as resort reviews, I would take those with a grain of salt. Everyone's opinions are different and all resorts have their share of not-so-good reviews, so I wouldn't let those influence you too much when choosing a resort. Good luck.

You should look at a DVC 2 br villa at BLT or VWL (I think CRO is back to allowing 9 at VWL)

Having a full kitchen, laudry, jaccuzi, living room is a great plus for the same $ as 2 standard rooms.

If you want to save $ you can look into renting form a DVC memeber also.

The new Grand Floridian DVC should be open by then also, and as a new resort they often have a lot of unsold units to rent through CRO

For a unique experience, look into the tree houses at Saratoga Springs. They sleep 9.

I'm pretty sure the 2bdrm at VWL only holds 8. I know they only have bedding for 8 since there isn't a sleeper chair like there is at BLT. I'd probably do two rooms at the Poly if you decide against BLT. Or like another poster said, the DVC resort at the GF should be open by then. Have you looked into renting points instead of a cash reservation?

We are going in October. Booked a 2bedroom at bay lake. Sleeps 9. We have previously done 2rooms at poly but bl bay lake has 3 bathrooms. Full kitchen and washer dryer. We are 6 ADULTS and 2 kids. Felt the need for space plus their my kids and grandkids and they would be bothering me anyway! Good luck with your planning and Welcome to the DIS!

The problem with two families sharing a two bedroom villa is "who gets the master bedroom" with the king sized bed and private bath and who get the second bedroom with the two queen beds or one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa and the shared bath? Unless you are paying for the villa or the DVC member who owns the points, someone gets hard feelings.

If you really want to stay together, get two deluxe rooms and request for them to be linked.

Thanks for all the great advice. I think the Poly with requested connected rooms sound like a good option to me. Time to call my brother and share the information.
