We, as a family are heading to the world Sept, 2010. We have one person who does not want to share a room with other family members, (actually she is the only one without family going-- doesnt feel comfortable going in with the couple or with the family.

How does one book a room by themselves? do they ay double the price?
Since we are going during free dining-- will she also have to buy two sets of tickets?

No she just pays rack rate for the room, and the price of tickets for one. They don't double the price. One or two adults in the room is the same RACK rate.

The person needs to call and make a reservation. The room price is the price of the room, period. Each person needs tickets, package deals combine one set of tickets per person staying in the room with the room cost. So the person will need to pay the room rate plus one ticket per day.

Thank you. That seems so simple-

if thats the case why do people try to sqeeze 5 people in one room instead of buying two?

We are going in low season- I see the Pop can be had for 82.00-
what is rack rate?

Rack rate is the public, undiscounted cost of the room. Disney often has discounts but it's uncommon to combine two discounts. Free food counts as a discount so most people will have to buy tickets and pay full rate for the room.

Why squeeze? To cut the cost of the room per person. Some people may only get there by sharing the room and others expect to only use the room for sleeping so don't see the value in more space. Different strokes for different folks.

I go almost every year by myself. I pay 175% of the room rate if I stay one person to a room.

When I invite friends along, I still pay the same price and they pay the difference that it is to add the extra person(s). I feel like I am going whether they go or not, so I am providing them with a nice vacation......
