Where to sit on the coasters?

First... do you get to choose where you sit on each ride, or is it basically first come-first serve?

At Paramount Canada's Wonderland here in Ontario, you can choose to line up for any seat on the coasters, except for a few rides where it's first come-first serve.

If we DO have a choice, where do you usually like to sit and why?

TIA! :teeth:

You can choose, but sometimes you have to wait another cycle or two to get where you want. I like the front of coasters sometimes because it you can see more and it feels like you are going faster, and I like the back of coasters because you usually feel more airtime in the back.

The last time that I rode Rockin Rollercoaster I sat in the back row. I was tossed around like a rag doll. There was an older man sitting next to me and he must have been beat up pretty badly too since when he got off he was complaining of a head ache to his daughter. I will always ask for the front on that right from now on!

On most other coasters (i.e. Six Flags) I pick that back row everytime... I want air-time!!! :woohoo:

On Disney ones - I usually go where they stick me. Disney isnt about "air-time" :thumbsup2

I agree - Disney roller coasters aren't about that.

But for me the only roller coaster that doesn't really matter where you sit is Big Thunder Mountain. The others - Space Mountain, Rockin' Roller Coaster, and Expedition Everest are SO much better in the front. In fact, I'll go as far as to say - I would have no problem waiting in line 10 minutes longer to sit in the front - it makes that much difference IMO...

And yes, OP, to answer your question you can pick where to sit on all four coasters.

Rode EE a couple weeks ago. First time we were in the middle and felt like we had a good experience throughout the ride. Front seaters were probably the only folks who got a thrill from the "track mishap", to us it was a letdown, all those heads in front of you. Rode again and was seated close to back. Normally I love the "wild" back but......at several points, where it was important, the end of the train was located within a smaller tunnel area where the roof cut our view. This was especially in one location which was important to the ride. I will avoid the back couple cars of the train next time I go on it.

I thought EE was great from the middle, but the next time, my brother and I went for the front row. We liked EE even more. Unless I'm in a really big hurry for some reason, I'll do the front row every time.

At Space mountain it really doesn't matter where you sit, it's a great ride from every seat.

For the Rockin Rollercoaster: For me it's the front seat: The ride takes off so fast, and you only truly experience it in that front seat.

On BTM, my sister and I sat in the back and in the front. I personally liked the back better. My sister and I both agreed that it seemed slower and less intense sitting in the front :confused3

EE is a definate front car ride! They have a special waiting area for riders that ask for the front row. It is a great ride anywhere but a super duper ride in the front seat! We only had to wait one cycle and we had the front row. What a rush!

I think Space Mt is also better in the front. Again if you ask they will put you there!

Have fun!

We rode EE in the front row and the very last row. The "track mishap" is definitely cooler in the front row, but the backwards part and the drop were WAY better in the back row. We saw the Yeti perfectly well from the back. We didn't feel any "Gs" in the front row during the backwards part, but in the back row it was pretty intense.
I rode Space for the first time in the very front seat and it was AWESOME! So much better than any other row I've ever sat in!
We ride Splash in the last row every time because I feel that we get a lot less wet in that row. I also like the drop better from the back.

I know what you mean. Last time I rode RnR, I also ended up in the back seat. WOW! Talk about an E-ticket ride!! I came off the thing staggering! That was a doozie.:scared1:

If you prefer a less intense ride, most coasters are slower in the front seat (unless it has a huge drop, in which case you're in for a white-knuckle ride), and a wilder, whippin' ride in the back. I usually prefer towards the back -- I love that crack-the whip feeling!

Surprisingly, nobody has brought up the arguement that "the back of the coaster can't go faster than the front... if it did, the back would finish before the front". It has often come up in these discussions.

Before anyone does, I'd like to point out that it is often the speed of the train at a certain point on the track that people call fast or slow. Take BTMRR for instance, at the start of a drop, the back of the train is holding the front back a bit... the train doesn't reach full speed until the front cars are basically through the drop. In the back cars, the train has reached full speed while you're still pretty much at the top of the drop. We prefer to go fast DOWN the hill as opposed to at the bottom of it. So, for rides like BTMRR, we prefer the back.

On RnRC, the speed of the limo at a certain point affects me when we go through the corkscrew. The limo hasn't reached full speed when the front cars are going through the corkscrew. Less speed means there is less centrifugal force, so I tend to "fall" out of my seat more than when I'm in the back. It is barely perceptible... but it is there.

Additionally, coasters in the dark are cool in front because nobody's head is obscuring your view. On SM in California, this is really a plus because it is so darn dark in there you have no idea which way you're going next and you can't "brace" yourself. So, for rides in the dark or that do that corkscrew, we prefer the front.

Okay, 10th grade physics class is now dismissed... don't forget your homework, ride all the coasters and pay attention to WHERE they are going fast. :teacher:

For me, the back on Space Mountain is better. It is a dark ride, but whenever I sit in the front I can see what's coming up next, so I would rather be in the back.

BTMRR it really doesn't matter. The train is in the front so even the front car is like the middle.

RnRC you have to be in the front. That's the best way to experience the ride! :bounce:

If you want to be in the very front or back you may ask the cast member who directs the line if you can wait until its available. theyll always say yes in my experience. i love riding in the front.

Generally prefer the front car on coasters. Rode EE only once and was lucky enough to get front car. Queued up as soon as the park opened, standby was only 10 minutes and the teenage girls who were "assigned" to the front seat were freaking out. I said "I'll sit there...I don't care!" They said "Aren't you scared?!?" (I am 43 years old...please!) I told them, "I have two little boys...nothing scares me!!!"

IT WAS AWESOME!!! I would have waited extra for it!

Thanks for your responses! I'm glad we get to choose!

I guess we'll have to try the front AND back on all the coasters. More than once, of course. ;)
