Where to sign up for Jedi Training Academy?

We arrive at WDW in two weeks. :) Our sons want to do the Jedi Training Academy again. We have a FP+ for Star Tours for right after the park opens. The plan is to go sign up for Jedi training academy, then they will go on star tours with DH. Where do we go at rope drop to sign up?

Also, we could choose to do the JTA later in the day right? We have an ADR at 50s Prime Time at noon so we would ideally love for them to do the JTA at around 1:30.

Sounds Dangerous is the default location. It's moved once in a while, but generally it's there. I would ask a CM at opening to double check where it is.

The rule is you need to take the "Next available" slot. Unless you have FP+ or Dining reservations already for that show. This like a lot of Disney "Rules" the CM running signup has flexibility, but you can't count on being allowed to select your time.

Great, thanks! They did this last time when we had an ADR. I was worried about working around that and the FP+ for the day but it sounds like they consider that already.

The sign-ups are now always at Sounds Dangerous/ABC Sound Studio except during SWW. CMs allow you to choose your session to fit your FP and ADR schedule.

If thunderstorms are predicted in the afternoon, you may want to request a morning session. Sessions get canceled if rain or lightning is in the area - my DD is a member of the onstage cast and reports lots of canceled shows this week. The storms have been arriving early in the afternoons and lasting for an hour or more. A quick meet and greet with Vader and Stormtroopers will be held if sessions are canceled.

Head into the park and take the first left, go around echo lake past the dinosaur and over the the ABC Sound Studio. You will see signs for Jedi Academy Registration. Follow those and you will be set. Make sure to do this immidiately when the park opens. So its imperative to be there for rope drop that morning or you likely wont get a spot.

I do highly recommend it though. My 6yr old absolutely loved it when we were there last month =)

Thank you for the helpful information. I want to surprise my 6 year old and knowing where I'm going certainly helps!

You saw you have to have him with you when you sign up right? You can't sign anyone up without the CM seeing and speaking to the child.

The sign up is relatively new isn't it? I don't see it happening for us because we'll never get there at rope drop.
We were there like 5 years ago and if my memory is correct they just picked kids randomly out of the crowd. My oldest son was lucky enough to be picked.

When it started it was Star Wars weekend Only and picked from crowd (which by the way is how DLR still does it I'm told.)

It's been this way for at least 3-4 years. So I guess relatively new is based on your definition of new.

Thank you, now I know exactly how to get there! We are always at the park at least 30 minutes before rope drop, so that's never a problem for us. My boys did the JTA on our 2012 trip when they were 5 and 7 and they loved it so much that they would like to do it again. It's a lot of fun for us to watch too, and I'm not even a Star Wars fan, but DH is.

I'd be at DHS at least 45 minutes early.

DHS regularly opens 20-30 minutes before the posted opening.
