So we received stemware as a wedding gift 15 years ago, and we are not formal people. No sense in it sitting in our basement any longer. What's the best way to sell this? Shipping is not ideal because its obviously fragile. We have 12 wine glasses and 12 champagne flutes. Thanks.

Unless it is Christofle or something similar it is essentially valueless. My mother had some beautiful Lenox. It sold for $1 a glass at a garage sale.

You can look at replacements and ebay to see if you have a sought after pattern, but honestly there are too many glasses and china sets floating around and not nearly enough "formal" people to buy them.

I know how it feels, I am currently sitting on 6 sets of china, because I just can't bring myself to sell Grandma's china for $50 at a garage sale.

If it's high end, an antique consignment shop.

However, there is a LOT of old stem ware. Don't be surprised if you get $20-$40 for the set.

Replacements, Ltd. buys china and stemware.

They're a great resource to replace pieces and their store in Greensboro, NC is wonderful. It's like a museum, with tons of things on display. It's a fun way to spend an afternoon without spending money!

Check Facebook for a local area selling group. I have had great success selling stuff that way. It's like Craigslist only with people in your community.

If you don't drink wine or champagne (and using the proper glasses for these is not exactly being formal), why not use them as every day glasses for other drinks? Or regift.

Yowza! I just looked up mine on replacements and the wine glass is going for around $80! Better be careful with mine! We use them and I love them. But for that price I might let a few go!

You can always do craigslist and state "local delivery or pick-up only".

Thanks to all for the replies. I will look at Replacements website. Thank you. awesome for the pp who found out that theirs are worth $80!

I think after Replacements, I will try Craigslist (why didn't I think of that?) and if not, we will just use them. Don't have anyone to regift it too. That would be ideal.

The prices from Replacements are incredibly high. You won't get that much trying to sell yours. Check for your pattern on eBay; you'll get a more realistic value.

I agree, the prices from Replacements are through the roof. I've bought place settings of my wedding china on ebay for less than a quarter of what Replacements wants. I've also inquired with Replacements about selling some old china for my MIL, and what they payed wasn't worth it to her.
