I have decide to try to sell my Barbie collection to help fund my upcoming Disney trip. The problem is I have no idea how to go about doing this. I have been collecting for about 15 years and have some pretty decent Barbie's. I know with the ecomomy the way it is I won't get what they are worth but I was hoping to make a little on these to make our upcoming trip extra special. We are taking a family who has never been before and it will probable be a once in a lifetime trip for them so I am trying to pull out all the bells and whistles!!! If anyone has any ideas on where I can sell these please let me know. I have never sold anything of mine before. Thank you.

Ebay! You could put an ad in your local paper. Craigslist is out in our area, it brings out the crazys!

we sold our on craigslist. went REALLY fast. ended up selling to another disney lover....

legos went really fast on craigslist, too.

i sometimes arrange to meet buyers at the public library -- feel it's a little safer than them coming to our home.

Start with Craigslist - free and easy to post. For collectible Barbies, I'd check craigslist postings and recent ebay sales to figure out what the going price is. Like others have said, though, you have to be careful.

If you try craigslist, please make sure you state cash only. I also only meet people in a public place, so they don't have my address, and I make sure I get their cell # so if there is a problem at the last minute or they don't show, I can reach them.

If you do an advanced search on ebay and check for completed items, you can find what recent sales have been. Ebay is having a special right now so you do not have to pay any insertion fee, only a fee if the item sells. This is in effect thru 9/7.

Good luck!

Good luck selling your Barbies. I have a ton wasting space upstairs right now and would love to get rid of them.

I think you'll do just fine selling them. There's a buyer for everything - eventually. Like the saying, One mans trash is another's treasure. (not that barbies are trash LOL but you know what I mean!)

You can find their approximate value from ebay and then keep trying to sell them until you get what you'd like from them.

I on the other hand, have a variety of misc antique books and items, none of which are listed on ebay or anywhere. I'd love to take them to an antique shop or bookstore but don't wanna be ripped off, fully realizing they need to make a profit, too. It's confusing and frustrating, so in the attic they still sit. :confused3

totally thought this thread was about where to sell BABIES! :scared1::rotfl:

good luck with the sale...ITA with poster that suggested meeting at the library, not your home, to make transactions.

You might want to try Craigs List first as it is free and no fees like Ebay. Ebay worked best for me but you have to plan for the fees and the shipping costs. I've slowly been clearing out some of my Barbie collection by listing a few dolls on Ebay. There are a ton of Barbies on Ebay so if you really want to sell you will need to price them correctly. If you price them too high no one will bid on them. Do your homework by looking up recently closed auctions on the dolls you want to list and decide your pricing from that. If listing on Ebay make sure that you describe the doll and box condition accurately as there are some really picky collectors out there. Also be prepared to find that some dolls are not worth what you paid for them. I had a few that did well and others that sold really cheap but I was ok with that as I just wanted to clear them out. Make sure that you calculate the shipping correctly - I also add in insurance and delivery confirmation to my shipping price as it will help protect you, the seller, from buyers claiming that they didn't get a package. Good Luck with your sales - I hope you do well and make lots for your trip :)

a few months ago I listed about a dozen Barbies from my collection only 2 of them sold. I had them very reasonably priced, below what they cost forget what they are worth but they didn't sell. Yard sale....nope. I am going to try craigslist.
