I'm not sure if this is the right board for this question but I couldn't think of where else to ask.

So are Water Mice (Sprites) still available for rent? Where can I get more information on them? Are there any age restrictions?

Hi! I'll try to answer- though have never rented- did look into it. I believe you can rent at:

Poly
WL
Cont.
GF
YC

To drive alone you must be 16- to drive with adult 12. Weight limit of 300 lbs I think. I have no idea how much $- sorry.

You can rent them at the major resorts. Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Contemporary, Swan Dolphin, Boardwalk.

They are a real blast, just don't crash into another boat and keep the wake down near the docks. I can't remember the price, but it was like $35 for 1/2 hour or something. I do recall it being quite reasonable for the amount of fun you can have.

I believe you must also present a driver's license so don't leave it home.

I think there is still a link on the offical Disney web site where you can find out info on this. Look under the Recreation link.... I know at one time the age was 12 to rent, my son did it. I know it went up, but I didn't know you had to have a DL to rent one ....guess that changed too. I know if you are a passholder, they will give a discount. At least discounts were offered this past spring. I rented the pedel boats at FWC & got the discount.

You can also rent them from WL and Fort Wilderness. AP holders get a discount. 16 to drive the alone, 12 to drive with an adult. It's around $35/half hour. We've done this a couple times and it's a great way to spend some down time away from the parks.

Does Anyone know if this is true? My Husband and I had a great time on these and were planning on taking the boys.

At the Y&BC I believe children without a license can ride them without a parent. They go much slower than at the other resorts. They have a max speed of 5mph instead of the typical 20 - 25mph the other water mice go. Same boat other than the speed.
