Where to relax in the parks?

We are headed down to southern CA for Thanksgiving and will be hitting up DL and DCA the day after Thanksgiving. I realize it's going to be busy, but I'd rather be there when it's busy than to not go at all. :)

What are some good locations within the parks to take a breather and relax for a little while?

TIA!

The decks at the Hungry Bear overlooking the water are very nice and their new menu is pretty good.

Our favorite relaxing place is Whitewater Snacks in the GCH. While not actually "in" the parks, it is a short walk from the park/hotel exit. The food is good and even on crowded days we've found that place to be a quiet place to break from a loud, busy park.

That would be my number one suggestion.^^^

Nearby I also like the garden with the fountain in the center in front of the NOS train station.

In DCA the Alfresco lounge, or the patio around WCT.

There is a thread that also has some other ideas in it.

The Hungry Bear is great and the food isn't bad at all in my opinion. We had breakfast at the River Belle Terrace (hopefully I got that name right!) in New Orleans Square overlooking the Rivers of America and it was very peaceful in the mid-morning.

If it's cold outside Innoventions has a little show by Honda that has a robot called Asimo on stage. It is short...only about 20 minutes, but when your feet are tired it is a relaxing way to sit and be entertained. Don't expect to be wow'd, but we enjoyed it.

i love the carnation plaza and am so sad they are tearing it down. there is swing dancing on sat nights, but still plenty of room to relax.

the boardwalk pizza and pasta is a good place at dca

We ride the train. We get everyone a soft drink with a lid, and the we ride the train for sometimes an hour. Watch what the people are doing and relax. Try it.............

Some of my favorite places here. There is also a courtyard that the Monorail passes through between the lobby of the Grand and DTD, I spend an hour there yesterday just relaxing and waiting for my room to be ready.

Thanks everyone, really great suggestions!! We will definitely take advantage of some of these places. :yay:

We'll take our mid day break *nap* at our hotel on the day after Thanksgiving - we did the same thing on the same day last year. You really shouldn't worry too much about crowds *the same APs that were blocked last year are blocked this year. The wisest thing anyone can do no matter when they're visiting is to show up 30-40 min prior to park opening, enjoy the 1st few low crowd hours of the day *collect FPs to use later.

Have fun ~ perhaps we'll bump in to you, our park days are Thanksgiving-Saturday.

Anywhere in the Hub on Main Street if relaxing includes people watching. Anywhere near Rivers of America. In DCA the main area inside the Animation Academy, where you can sit, relax, and enjoy Disney animation and music.

I was going to suggest the Hungry Bear area too but their new menu looks terrible to me. :sad1: If you can snag the bench on the porch on Main St- do it. :thumbsup2 Also one of the benches inside or along the hub is terrific too. You're still in the middle of the action but there's something magical and relaxing about the hub. :cloud9: The Animation Studio is fun but no real people watching. I also like riding The Mark Twain for some good down time.
