Where to park our pup...

We are beginning to plan our 5th trip to disney but our first camping trip and we are trying to decide what type of site we need to reserve. Our pup is a 12ft Jayco with a slide and shower/casset toilet. I know that at least some nites we will use the shower to get the little ones ready for bed and the CT for late or rainy nites. If we get a tent/pop-up site, how much trouble will we have dumping the CT and gray water containers? We have considered the full/premium sites also, but just aren't sure what we need. Also, I know that some of the full and premium sites allow pets. My ds 7 has severe allergies to dogs and cats, if we end up in one of those, what are the chances that we might run into someone walking a dog or possibly being very close neighbors with a pet. Despite his allergy, he loves dogs and would definetly try to get as close as possible. Definetly do not want an asthma attack at disney. I would appreciate any and all suggestions. Oh yeah, we will also have at least 1 tent and a screen room. Thanks in advance...

fulls are all pet loops so a preferred non-pet loop is best. I would call to make sure they still have these as so many loops are pets now. We have a similar pup and for this reason always stay in a full but do not need to be away from the pets. Have fun!

I have seen pets on all the loops even the partial hook ups. So there is no for sure safe haven.
I like to have sewer hookup on our longer trips and from the way you described your rig and intended use I would recommend a site with sewer hookup. The fort does not have a dump station. Guest are directed to find an empty site with a sewer connection and dump there. While it is not difficult to find an empty site it can be a pain to load your holding tank or tow it to a site in another loop. Even though the staff tells you to use an empty site I always feel a little weird dumping on what will be someone else's site. It is worth the extra money to me to not have to worry about how much water we are using especially with a shower that can fill a holding tank fast and often.

Luvin,

I've got a 12' Jayco pup also with shower and CT so I feel I should help you out and answer here.

We stayed in Loop 1500 (a partial) for a week last year during Thanksgiving. First let me say we don't use our shower in the pup while we're at the Fort given that the Comfort Stations are so nice. Being a guy, the wait for a shower has never been long if any for me but my DW tells me stories about fights over counter space on the Ladies side for the post-shower activities. :confused3

The partial sites are usually several dollars cheaper and over a week that savings adds up. If you have a gray water holding tank either from the shower or kitchen sink and a Thetford cassette, they can be dumped in any vacant full hook-up site that is open. I found the best time was in the late morning during check-in/check-out time there's always empty sites to stop at and take-care-of-business. Some folks dump gray water in the large sink that's in the laundry room at each Comfort Station and some folks dump casettes in the toilets (carefully). Me, I'd rather find an empty site.

So it depends on how many times you think you might need to empty tanks in a week (cost vs. convenience). Also since you'll have a tent and screen room make sure when you make your ressie that the CM adds a note about both the tent and the room and their dimensions. That way the Fort assigners can give you a site that will fit all of it. Remember though that a premium site is all concrete so setting up the tent might be tough since they don't want tents set up off the pads.

Good luck!

We are going to try for the 1500 loop for next weeks trip. We have an AAR on the pop up plus a 10x10 shelter. If we add those to our ress are we going to be given the 2000 loop since those pads are bigger? Again, we really want the 1500 loop.
Thanks,
Rob

Rob,

Well, an AAR is no bigger than the awning which is pretty standard in pups. Just add the 10x10 shelter and request 1500. Or don't tell them and increase the size of the pup on your ressie. Faxing the infamous letter a few days before arrival (3-5 days) to reinforce what you have on the ressie has generally worked for me. Given the walking proximity to the pool, Meadow TP, and Campfire/Singalong I'd almost rather have any site in 1500 versus 2000.

Thanks for the reply!!
We really want the 1500 loop. Duh...didn't think about the AAR as same size. (too much other planning) When we called the other day the CM did say that the loop request was on our res. We'll be sending the fax tomorrow. Crossing our fingers.

Thanks for all the replies. We are still trying to decide, the defference in price is significant and would love to save the $$$ and stay in a partial loop. We have only taken our pup out once for a weekend and don't really know yet how much water we will use once we are more comfortable with it. I guess after a few more trips we should have an idea. Thanks again

W started with a pop up with shower and toilet when the girls were 3 and 5, we always booked a full campsite, as I did not want to worry about dumping, and it was so much easier to shower them in the camper at night, it also was very handy for doing dishes and not worrying about water. We do have longer stay at the Fort generally 10 to 13 days so that does come into play.
