Where to look for super cheap rental rates

I need to rent a car to drive from NC to FL and back plus the week we're at Disney World. I keep hearing there are ways to get really cheap rates, but about the cheapest I see for a mid-sized car is ~$28/day which still is well over $300 for the week. Is there anything cheaper out there? Anyone who gives discounts for more days (like the longer you keep it the better the rate)?

Thanks!

I check the site carrentalsavers.com every day (sometimes a couple of times a day). They show the prices for all the places and locate the discount codes for you. I booked a vehicle at the lowest price there right after I booked my flight but since then I have gotten the cost down $25 by continuing to check. I know that isn't much but I figure it is essentially the cost of a meal!

It also depends on when you are looking to book. I checked SkyScanner, Autocarrentals.com and Costcotravel.com and found good prices on all of them. So far for a mid sized SUV from Costcotravel with Alamo for $340 for 11 days in August.

Good luck in your search

I agree with kj2mom about carrentalsavers.com also try carrentals.com
Most of these super cheap deals that you are hearing about in this forum are for rentals at the Orlando airport. Rates can be really good due to the shear volume of tourists going through the area and the amount of competition from many car rental companies.

You're likely not going to find these super deals for a local rental in NY for the couple of weeks that you need to rent. You may have better luck picking up at an airport location (if there is one that is convenient for you) Also, typically the rentals from the airport come with unlimited mileage while local rental outlets usually have a per day mileage allowance (100-200 free miles per day)

Try picking up a rental car at a non - airport location. When renting at the airport you are hit with extra airport fee's. We have a Enterprise location right in our town. When I price a rental with Enterprise and pick up in our town the price is cheaper than the airport. And when comparing the two prices the big difference is that there are no extra airport fee's yet the daily rental rate is the same at both locations. Remember those airport fee's are charged daily to a rental.

The deals for the longer you keep it, applies to folks who are renting for a month. Such as those who had an car accident and need a rental.
