housing for free? gosh! lol was it worth it? idk? i live like 50 mins from disney so i will be able to bring my car I had herd that they will be opening up a new appt. complex this fall? is that true?

It was sooo worth it for me two reasons: an extra 80 bucks on your paycheck every week was B-E-A utiful. and two i got lucky. I didnt have a car down there and two of my roomates wanted me to move with them. They drove me and picked me up from work everyday. It was fully furnished and really nice. If you have a car and dont mind the little extra drive and they are oofering it again go for it.

I feel like I need to defend Vista a little bit...

Yes, it is a really social living situation, but to be honest, at least in my experience, it was not very loud. Like you could hear stuff but it wasn't like, "Oh, I can't sleep!" It was fine and I was never disturbed with the noise. Vista was pretty fun and I made really good friends there (but I also had friends in Chatham, too). It just sucked living in a different complex than some of my friends because we would work until midnight, and then we couldn't hang out in our apartments because it was after hours. So... nothing you can really do about that, but I'm just saying. Okay, tangent over. Conclusion: Vista is not that bad!

Ill toss in my 2 cents.

Before I left for the program, I had read a ton of information about Vista and Chatham. I heard Vista was nothing more than a party place and that Chatham was the more laid back complex.

I am slightly older than most college students and I have already had my share of non stop partying and lack of sleep and decided after hearing all the information about the apt complexs that I would choose Chatham.

Fast forward to my arrival date and we found out we didnt even have a choice, everyone that arrived that day would be staying at Vista.

I wasnt too happy about this due to all the information I had read about this place and wasnt looking forward to it.

We all moved in to building 28, right next to the bus stop and the pool. Contrary to what I had read, Vista was no worse than any other apt complex I have ever lived in.

There was never a night that it was so loud I couldnt sleep. Its true that Vista is a more sociable place. The layout of Vista just makes it much easier to meet people.

I had friends at Chatham that I went to visit and it seemed really, really quiet there. The apartments are nicer, thats for sure....but there wasnt much atmosphere there. Most of the people I knew there didnt even know their neighbors, whereas at Vista we socialized with the entire building.

It all boils down to what you want, but dont read more into it than is necessary.

Vista was no where even remotely close to as bad as I had read about it, and in retrospect I am quite happy I stayed there as opposed to Chatham.

Point well taken. Most of us are going based on our experiences and the experiences of our friends and co-CPs, but it's nice to hear a different perspective.

Disney/Price Management tries to have an equal number of apartments available at both Vista and Chatham, but it's all based upon availability. It is more rare, but is possible that they are only able to offer Chatham or only offer Vista.

Vista isnt as bad as everyone said we only had one part acrossed the hall was broken up soon as i got home. The apt are crap but it easier to catch bus and it a short walk to Walgreens, Wendys and if you REALY have to Cross roads And if your really like to walk Downtown disney(that long walk f bus was late).

It depends what bus you take. I know in 2005 Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and MGM and the Wal-Mart bus all came to Chatham first. The rest went to Vista first.

However, there is a good chance Patterson Court will be open for the
Fall Advantage & Fall Programs. We also do not predetermine room
assignments so any request you may have will have to wait until
check-in. At that time, you can ask and depending upon availability will
determine the outcome.

Yeah, that's one reason why I liked Chatham. A lot of the buses stopped there first.

My DD is currently living at Vista Way and she loves it. I was really impressed with the place myself - very nice apartment complex for very little money. She said the buses are great - they run about every 15 minutes and they'll take you not only to work, but the parks, the grocery store, etc.

(I wish I could live there).

I know I am late in topic. I would recommend Chatham all the way. It way newer, nicer, cleaner.. The environment is overall better. I have to agree that Vista is supposedly the "wilder" one, but don't let any one fool you. There are more then enough parties going on at Chatham. It seemed like chatham was more relaxed. In vista there is always people out and about, music is louder and overall the population is much younger. Without stereotyping if I was to go back, i still would pick chatham. The only downside of chatham is that its not next to a Wal-greens and a bar like Vista is.

It is optional. Unfortunately I don't really know too much about it, as I have never done it. All I know is that you fill in something, and it pairs you with one other person.
