Where to go?

We live in NC. We are thinking about heading out this weekend for a mini-vacation. We are going to the beach this summer so I'd rather not go there. Any suggestions for a good last minute getaway for the weekend?

What are you looking for? Are you in the mountains of NC now or would the mountains work? History buffs? Water park (probably too cold...). R&R?

Charleston SC, Asheville NC, Highlands NC, and Savannah GA are all good weekend destinations.

I have to agree with Asheville- it's beautiful!!! We went there three times when we lived in South Carolina and we still want to go back!

How about Williamsburg, VA? Or, the mountains (Blowing Rock, Asheville, Cherokee).
