Where to go??

I am in South Jersey (almost Deleware). My dh and I would like to take our girls on a mini vacation. 3 days/4 nights. We have about $1000 to spend, where should we go? I want to be within driving distance (3 or 4 hours at most) and it needs to be kid friendly. I have already thought of Lancaster PA and New York, but there must be so much more to see. Where should we go?

I vote for NYC! 3 nights in hotel would be like $200 a night. So you'd have $400 for food and entertainment. There is so much to do there, so many things that don't even cost money. I'd love to go back!

If you do opt for NYC-- look around for rates on the newly built Holiday Inn Express near Times Sq.. I've seen rates recently for $88/nt as a promotion for the grand opening (which happened right before the holiday's). I've been tempted to book for this rate.

What time of year would you be going?

Places like NYC and even Washington D.C. would be great year round-- actually I prefer them all year but June-August due to touring in the heat.

The Pocono (I may of mis-spelled) Mountains have a lot to do year round. You can find some great resorts that will do all inclusive. If you can go mid-week in the winter/spring you can save a lot of money.

Also, there are some great indoor waterparks that would be nice to visit.

During the summer of course- there would be all the beach and camping options too.

Skiing in the poconos! You can stay at the place with the water park in it..something wolf I think it is or something bear....
