My friend that we are going with will be celebrating her bday while we are at DL.. I was thinking of getting a cake for her.. Where is a good place? What are the prices like?

You can get a birthday cake at any TS in the parks and the hotels, and in your hotel room if you stay onsite for $15. They aren't too big for the price but good enough to share with a small group for eveyone to get a taste. It also comes with a small extra "gift". I think you can find out about it on DL.com

If you want something offsite you will probably need to drive to a grocery store.

You can order a cake to any Table service restaurant by calling DIsney Dining. It used to be only hotel restaurants and CLub 33 offered this, but they recently added table service restaurant. We usually order the chocolate cake with choc mousse filling and a butter cream frosting.

Here are some pics for ideas...

There's always grocery stores nearby too.
Ralph's
Vons
Costco

Are the 'gifts' more aimed at children? The link simply says a princess jewelry box or pirate's treasure chest so it sounds like a children's gift but I wanted to be sure. I'm thinking of doing something like this for an adult. Would it still be ok?

It is like a little jewelry box but holds a small cake instead. The cakes aren't the freshest though.

I think it would be ok.

Do you have to order these in advance, or is it something you can just ask for??

Alternatively, if you are not actually eating at the restaurant, but want to get a cake to go (take it back to off-site room for example), can you do that??

Thanks!!

Yes, you have to order 72 hours in advance. You can only order a cake if you are eating at the restaurant. You can take the cake to go though after your meal. We often do this. We will order on to the Club and them eat the desserts at the club leaving little room for cake, but the cake is soooooo good, and we have it later! Here is my daughter taking her cake, and churro out of the park.
