Unfortunately most apple products are really, really regulated. You may find it on sale a few dollars here or there but pretty much 'ole Steve keeps a tight rein on prices.

I saw an ad for one 93% off (lol) but when I clicked on the link it took me to a bid auction site.

Dh has bought several on amazon at very good prices, they have all been gently used but no problems yet. He watches the listings constantly, like every hour and when he sees a good deal he jumps on it.

On the apple site they have some refurb with the same warranty as new...however there is supposed to be a huge announcement this week on March 2nd of the new IPad 2 and so if you are not in a hurry I would wait just a bit...1) it will be a newer version 2) will have different pricing tiers than 1st and should make first one cheaper too...HTH!

I would wait a week. They are announcing the new one on Wednesday so they will have to do something with the old ones.

You can get 5% back through shop Discover, or 5% off at Target with their credit card.

Other than the refurbs that is the best I have found.

If you are military you can get one at the PX for a slight discount and no sales tax. That is the best discount I have seen on a brand new one.

DH is patiently awaiting the announcement next week so he can decide if he wants to get a new one or an old one at the discounted price. He is leaning heavily towards the new one since the rumor is it will be at the same price point as the current one.

I was going to say this, too. The new ones are expected to be thinner, with nicer screens and with 2 cameras. And there is a rumor that they might be cheaper. They possibly won't ship until June, though.

I would really like a new one! I am trying to fit it into the budget. We need a new computer this summer, so I am considering getting the less expensive computer so that I have $$ left over for an ipad.
