We just booked our WDW vaction 10/18 ( a last minute decision). We are visiting Nov 25th for 7 days. I started calling to make dining reservations for our table service meals the next morning. We've been to disney four times since 2000 and this was the first time we decided to go with the dining plan. It seems like a great thing. But everything is booked already!! I could barely get anything we wanted, let alone a decent time. My children are 6, 8, and 11 so we just can't eat at 9:00pm. We are staying at the Poly (first time as well) I couldn't even get Ohana's for the day we arrive. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

you can call back to reserv & ask them for Anything at any park between the hours of say 5& 7 p.m...if you et a nice CM they will tell you what's available anywhere (I got one who did this for me). ALSO don't forget you can have your TS for lunch or b'fast as well...so check those times. ANd if you REALLY REALLY just have to eat @ 1 particular rest keep calling RES - there will be no shows/cancellations - remember you can do it once you get down there - AND don't forget you can walk up often & get in---go early -when they open (4:00) they will often let you in.

ALSO if they can get only part of your party in you can take that to start with....back in May we had ressie for Cinderlla's castle but for only 2 (there were 5 of us) so we plotted which 2 of us would get to go in & experience it - we were fine with daddy & oldest dd getting to go---well when we walked up for our ps & asked if there was room all 5 of us got in! This was for I think a 9 or 10 ps (not the earliest obviously!) And let me tell you the youngest dd is STILL talking about it! so I can't imagine what it would have been like had we left her out...haha

Good luck-

DH and I loved Tusker House at AK for a CS meal....TS meals....if you can get Concourse Steakhouse (Contemporary), Le Cellier (EPCOT WS Canada), Ohana (Poly) and if you can get the Royal Table at Mk AWESOME!

Thanks for the dining advice!!!Can't wait to go (even if we starve!) hee hee

Did you check resort dining? Sometimes you can find openings at close resorts to the park...1900 Fare, Whispering or Artist Point (for MK), Cape May Cafe, Spoodles, Beaches and Cream, Yatchman Steak House(at Epcot).

Check at
45 days out..for cancellations on others with packages
30 days out...they might release more times.
when you get there...you never know..people change their minds.

I like
The Plaza and Tony's at MK
Beirgarten, LeCellier at Epcot
Brown Derby at MGM
and Tusker House at AK

You might also want to check Character Dinners...you never know. Good Luck ...let us know how you make out.

We did the dining plan this past summer and will be doing it again next summer. The one place everyone is wanting to go back to is Boma's!! If you are willing to try something different, that is. My kids are 15, 11, & 9. (DS is 15 and football player. We would be broke if we didn't do the dining plan.) Hope this helps. :wave2:

My favorite places to eat-

Sci-Fi Dine-In at MGM
Liberty Tree Tavern at MK
50's Prime Time Cafe at MGM

Of course, people have different tastes :).

My absolute favorite place is California Grill. But if you're having trouble getting a decent ressie, than chances are you won't have any luck with that place!

Hm, places at Downtown Disney don't generally fill-up I don't think. And there is SO much there!

Or maybe Crystal Palace for the kids when you're at MK, I think they have character dining.
At MGM, 50's Prime Time or Sci Fi is good with kids.
At Epcot, I like going to the Boardwalk (Spoodles is good).
Animal Kingdom-Rainforest Cafe maybe?

Just some ideas.

We went in Jan and had a great time. onestly we did Ohana and it wasn't the greatest thing but you should be able to get in sometime. We did the Luau at the Poly and I dontl think it was worth the two meals it took.

I ust booked today for our next trip. We are doing Mamma melrose for the seating bonus at Fantasmic. Restrauntsarus (sp?) in AK. We did get into the Cinderella Castle but did not last year so we went to Akerhaus in Epcot and My daughter loved it and there were 5 princesses there. I have heard that the Mickey BBQ is fun.

I like CP for breakfast because they have the Winnie the Pooh characters and a great buffet. They have waffles, bacon, and anything else you could want. :rotfl: For lunch, the Sci-Fi Dine-In is a pretty good place for people to just come w/o reservations, but if you have a lot of kids they food can get expensive. :earseek: Hope I helped! princess:

Just want to thank you all again for your dining advice! Will try CP's for breakfast Tink!

Now with the 180 days out ADR booking will be tougher booking last minutes ADR's. :Pinkbounc

We suggest the following: LTT, CRT (if before 2/1), The Brown Derby and the Yachtsman.

After pouring over these boards for weeks now, here are a few places that I would not have tried but now can't wait to:

Kona Cafe (@ the Poly!) for breakfast- I've got to try this tonga toast
Whispering Canyon Cafe @ WL- big skillets at each meal & shakes!
Earl of Sandwich at DT Disney- supposedly wonderful
Wolfgang Puck's at DT Disney- the same and these two are CS!
Flying Fish at the Boardwalk is supposed to have excellent steak too.
Boma @ AKL- most people seem to love it
Beaches & Cream- a must do and no ressies required!

At least these are a few that are not character meals so maybe not as popular? It's worth a try, these all sound great when I read about them.
