We just booked our trip and will be in Disney on Thanksgiving Day. I would love suggestions of where to eat that day. Our kids are 9 and 11 and we are looking for some pretty traditional fare. Thanks!

Also, this is a silly question, but the parks will be insane, right?

I have been the past two years and this will be my third. I know there are other people far more qualified to give you advice but here's my two cents.

The parks are crowded but very doable if you have some form of a plan, but yes crowded. Magic Kingdom I have heard is the most crowded on that day. I believe then it is followed by Epcot, Hollywood Studios and then Animal Kingdom, but I could be wrong.

as far as dining if you call WDW dinning reservations and ask what will have traditional fare for the holiday they should have a list. But it may be slim pickings by now. None the less good luck and have a great time!!

I've only been once during Thanksgiving (2 years ago) and I agree with the above poster. The parks were very manageable as long as we had a plan (with the exception of DHS which got very crowded & hectic one night).

We had Thanksgiving dinner at Boma and we LOVED it!! A mixture of traditional Thanksgiving dinner and their yummy dishes and soups. I would probably do Boma again if we ever go back to WDW for Thanksgiving.

We are eating at Captain's Grille. We have a large party for Thanksgiving dinner and they were able to accomodate us for an early meal. That night they switch from their seafood menu to a special Thanksgiving buffet with seafood and traditional food.

We are hoping it is good!

I actually have a reservation at Boma Thanksgiving and also snagged one for Citricos at 8:45 pm and am unsure which one to keep. I will probably end up dumping the Citricos one due to the time since I have it for the night before :).

Pickings were slim at best I thought....

LTT dinner (traditional holiday stuff)
50's Prime Time (just like mom's house at the holidays)
Artist's Point

1) I also like good food at Thanksgiving.
2) But, I also want a different atmosphere.
3) So, I have an off-the-wall and out-of-the-way favorite.

4) Trail's End Thanksgiving Lunch and Dinner Buffet
. . . hearty vegetable soup, salad bar, fruit
. . . smoked turkey breast, mustard glazed ham, corn bread stuffing
. . . chicken, bbq pork ribs, baked salmon, penne pasta
. . . green beans, glazed carrots, broccoli,
. . . butternut squash, mashed potatoes, candied yams,
. . . pumpkin pie

NOTE:
There are several WDW eateries with traditional Thanksgiving
food. I don't think there are any bad choices. Turkey is pretty
much turkey, and I can get that at home. So, I go for atmosphere
I can't get at home.

This will be our third Thanksgiving at Disney - and as for parks... we have done MK late afternoon into the night the past two Thanksgiving Days and haven't found it to be a crowd problem at all.

Did Chef Mickey's one year... last year did Hollywood & Vine early lunch... and then Crystal Palace late dinner. All were very good. We prefer the buffet, as nice to have regular and thanksgiving items on there.

Reading about trails End... hmmm, that sounds good - may have to try it!

This year we are doing an early Cape May... and late Crystal Palace (which, by the way, dining reservations when called says there is no mention of a special thanksgiving meal - but there was one last year, and also with no mention of it. hmm???)
Gotta see... maybe we'll try out Trail's End - if ADR available. Eating at Cape May also later in the week... so could ditch that for Trails End!

Does 50's do a Thanksgiving meal, or just regular menu?

At this point I think you need to do a search and see what is still available. It is very late to be booking for Thanksgiving.
I would go on line and do a search and see what your options still are.
Good Luck

We had Thanksgiving dinner at Trails End Buffet in 2010 and loved it. We are going in Oct this year instead to go to MNSSHP but we will be back in 2012 and will likely try to get a ressie at Trails End for Thanksgiving again.
