We're leaving in 3 days and staying off site. We'll be splitting a day between AK and MK. We already plan to have lunch at RFC, but don't know what to do for dinner. It will be myself and my boyfriend (both 19yo) neither of us are too picky, but we can't spend a fortune....we're college students. We definitely want a sit down dinner either in MK or somewhere that we could get on the monorail and get too....is there such a thing!?!?!
Please reply quickly only 3 days to go!

Take the boat from the MK to FW and eat at the Trails End Buffet in FW. The menu is similar to that of the Hoop De Doo...the prices are very reasonable for a buffet. FW is an awesome place to unwind too...the atmosphere is great!

You can check out the menu on allears.net
We've eaten breakfast there twice and have never been disappointed. It's the best value in WDW!!

Welcome to the DIS boards! My recommendation for a nice sit-down meal that wouldn't cost too much would be Kona Cafe at the Polynesian. It's just a quick monorail ride from MK, and the food is really good. Most of the other monorail resort restaurants would be more expensive, although several have excellent food. As far as the sit-down restaurants inside MK, your choices are a bit limited. Liberty Tree Taven and Crystal Palace are both character meals if you think you might enjoy that. Cinderella's Royal Table is a nice choice because it's really fun to eat inside the castle, but it's pretty pricey. You'll see mixed reviews of Tony's, and it can also be a bit pricey.

Hope you have a great time!

The buffet at Trail's End in FW is a good choice. It will cost about $36 total for both of you. I enjoy eating at Columbia Harbor House in MK. It is considered a counter service, but has a lot of indoor air conditioned seating. It is near the Haunted Mansion. They have a very good chicken salad and some very large sandwiches. You can substitute carrots for french fries. Meals are around $6-$7. They also have a vegetarian chili, I've never tried it but hear it is good.

Another idea if sandwiches and salads would do is the Plaza Restaurant at the end of Main Street. It is sit down and you can (and should) make a PS. Not the Plaza Pavillion. It's a pretty ice cream parlor type place. Burgers, reubens, great salads, etc. with good service.

Kona is wonderful but will be a little more expensive although much less than other places of comparable quality.

Is it possible to get to FW from MGM/EPCOT by either boat/bus or monorail? We are not staying onsite but have passes for disney.

I agree, the Kona Cafe would be my choice. I suggest sharing an appetizer, entree and dessert. You'll definitely want to save room for dessert!

Yes. Take the FW bus from MGM/EPCOT. You will then have to take the FW internal bus system to get to Trails End/HDDR.

I also agree that the food is excellent at the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian.
Please note that the correct web address for menus is

I recommend the GF Cafe. Prices are reasonable under $20 per entree.

For a very nice, reasonably priced meal the Plaza Resturant is very nice. Although, Kona Cafe is on my list for December because of all the wonderful things I've heard about the food there. You can check out all the menus and prices here at allearsnet.
