I need some help...where do you think we should eat at Hollywood Studios? We are going Aug 30-Sept 6 so keep that in mind as I may not be able to get Adr's now for some places. I'm having trouble getting places we really want at a decent time. We have a 4 year old and we are sooo not morning people!:) However we also have my 55 year old DF going who has to eat every 2 hours and would freak if we went to dinner at 9pm! Off on a tangent, sorry! Anyway any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. We ate at Mama Melrose's back in 2000 but I have heard mixed reviews on it now and even when we went it was in Dec so it was pretty much desolate. Food wasn't bad, just ok, but service wasn't spectacular.
Thanks!:goodvibes

Personally( imho), I would skip eating at DHS and take a boat over towards the Boardwalk area.I really did not care for any of the Ts at Dhs.

We like Mama Melrose--we've always had great service and the food, while not gourmet, has always been good for us (a step above Olive Garden in our opinion). As for the other HS's establishments, we don't mind Sci-Fi in a jam or 50's Prime Time, but we do not like any of the others. So if we can't get into Mama Melrose, we go to one of the resorts for lunch/early dinner.

Not even the Brown Derby? I was looking forward to that one. What didn't you like about it?

I have always enjoyed 50's Primetime Cafe although I haven't eaten there for 3 years now.

I know this was directed at another poster, but I will tell you why we didn't like Brown Derby. I took my DH five years ago for his 50th birthday. There were 4 tables being used in the entire restaurant. We had absolutely terrible service. Our server did not want to be bothered with our questions at all; our food was not good at all...both of us had some sort of steak and it was bland and fatty; my DH tried the grapefruit cake and said it was the worse thing he had ever had for a dessert. We always give places at least two tries, but with the dining plan we don't want to waste the two credits and we really find it overpriced for the quality of the food. Now, a lot of other people love it, so it is just a matter of personal opinion.

That's funny because we ate there too back in 2000 and loved the food. It was excellent but the service was not stellar! After we got our table we waited what seemed like forever for our food and the waiter was polite to us but seemed like he didn't want to be bothered. Back then Disney had the plan where you had flex features that you could use for various things, well most of our's we used for meals but some of the restaurants acted like we were nothing's since we weren't paying cash. I don't understand why the waitstaff would care because an 18% gratuity was always included on the bill. For the places we ate with exceptional service we left extra tips too. Worked out great for us though, we ate at Fulton's Crab House, ended up with a $152 bill, all we had to pay for were drinks!
