We are going to be in Disney from May 2nd to the 10th.
I didn't do a dining plan.

We plan on eating breakfast out only twice while there, the other days we will eat light stuff in the room.

My kids are older now and don't need the character meals anymore either. So, can someone suggest a place for breakfast that has good food and isn't crazy with the price. We like all types of breakfast food and will travel to any hotel or themepark if it come highly recommended.

We aren't going to worry about lunch. We will have snacks, and plan on eating breakfast later to carry us until dinner. None of us are really big eaters.

But for dinner we will be going out.

Again, we don't really need character meals (unless the food is to good to miss?)
Can anyone suggest a few moderately priced dinner places, or even more pricey places if the food is terrific.
We like most kinds of food (seafood, italian, american, asian, etc)

Last time I was in disney my kids were young so most of our meals out involved character meals. So I don't really have any experience with grown up meals LOL

EDIT: I know there are many websites with menus etc. but I was really looking for recommendations from people here who have actually eaten the food, and love certain places etc.

Thanks for any help.

We usually just do light breakfasts in our room or something from the resort food courts.

For dinner we like the following:

Biertgarten and Teppan Edo at Epcot for the dining experience; Trail's End at Ft Wilderness for the reasonable price; Yak & Yeti at AK and GF Cafe for the food.

Our favorite breakfast of our whole 11 day trip last month was Kona Cafe....the food, the service, everything (in the Poly). Our other favorite was Crystal Palace...yes it's a character breakfast but it is the BEST buffet going and the characters just add so much to the fun....

Here is a link to my reviews with pictures of these two breakfasts~~

As for dinner our number one meal from our last trip (actually from all our trips) was Ragland Road (downtown) and Le Cellier (Epcot....) These are in my reviews too! If I could only choose a certain number of meals these four places would be the top picks!!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

There is a little store on the boardwalk where you can get bread and other
stuff and make your own food. If you have a car or a way to get to
Kissimmee their is a Denny's , Sizzler and an IHOP. There are also a large number of breakfast Buffets that only cost 3 or 4 dollars a person.
Most stuff in the parks is pretty pricey but there are places in Downtown Disney like Planet Hollywood. You may have gotten a 15 dollar voucher for that anyway.
At the resort we found stuff like the hot dog meal which is pretty filling was like 5 dollars and something a piece. It makes a great meal.
Do not forget the refillable mugs either. They seem a lot at 12 dollars a mug but when you refill them often the price puts you ahead of the game. :santa:

For breakfast I would suggest Kona. Ohana and Crystal Palace are also great, but they do have characters.

For dinners: Teppan Edo is fun and yummy, Ohana or Boma are both different and great, Tutto (in Epcot) is a good choice if you're feeling like italian(although I think they might be a little more pricey)...

Have a great time! :goodvibes

Why are you planning to eat out for breakfast twice? If you plan to eat in just do that and make lunch or dinner bigger meals. Also if the kids are bigger plan on later night snacks (pizza slices, sandwich, fries, etc.) after a late night swim or time in the park.

I'd suggest your resort CS, all have hot breakfast items and all are reasonably priced. We ate at CBR and shared the Big Breakfast platter and were unable to finish it; we love breakfast foods.

Boma for buffet
Captains grill for either buffer or menu options
Kona Cafe at the Polynesian

Finally, although you have not chosen a Dining Plan the new QS plan may work well for your family:
1. Mug will allow you to grab coffee each morning and the kids can get drinks too.
2. The double snack credits will allow you to grab a breakfast snack and still have one left for the park day.
3. CS meals are sharable, you can grab CS breakfast and share them as well as a lunch and still have a credit left for dinner. Take a look at some of the CS menus for dinner (resorts and parks) I think you will be surprised at the range and often the quality of the items. Note the Pepper Market charges a 10% service fee, but if you are paying using meal credits the fee is included. The Pepper Market has a rib eye steak meal available for one CS credit.
4. You will not have to make reservations for any of these meals.
5. You can still plan one special TS dinner and not feel like you're tied down or overspending.

Breakfast Kona, GF Cafe, Boma are all good choices.

Dinner Boma, GF Cafe, Whispering Canyon, Chefs de France. Eat around the WS at Epcot CS for dinner is fun too.

Why not the meal plan? I tried before without the meal plan and it is cheaper by a lot with the meals added.
