We will arrive about 4pm. Where should we eat that first night (have Dining plan)? I'd like to take my girls (5 & 7) to Magic Kingdom because I'm sure they will be so anxious to get there. Where can we eat that will be fun and magical? Nothing too late bc after a day of travelling and excitement the last thing I want is overtired cranky kids.
Thanks!

Chef Mickey's . It's the best Disney feeing resturant and a great way to start a trip.:thumbsup2:worship:

We always eat at Ohanas the first night. Its a great place and you get to see the MK!!

I'd say if you were going to MK to eat dinner at Tony's Town Square. The food's great, and you'll be right on Main St. USA!!

If you mean you want to eat at MK, then I agree with Tony's.
Nearby, Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL is fun.

Consider NOT going to MK. (Maybe post a separate question asking advice on that one.) Since you are arriving late, the park will be crowded...especially Fantasy Land. You may be better off having your girls experience that for the first time after a good night's rest, in the morning when it is less crowded.

I agree Chef mickeys gets you in the Disney mood. Will you have a car with you? You might to go over to GF and do 1900 Park Fare they would love that. If you decide to do MK then I recommend Crystal Palace good food fun and fun character interaction.
I personally would avoid a park on the first day there if you are arriving at 4pm

My kids love to eat at Cosmic Rays in Tomorrowland when we are in MK. Burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwich, nuggets... all the normal kid foods. They love to sit in the room with the lounge singer, an animatronic alien playing the keyboard and telling corny jokes.

If you are wanting a sit-down meal, you could go to Crystal Palace for a Pooh and friends character meal. You could also hop the monorail to the Contemporary for Chef Mickeys, which is a character meal with Mickey and the gang. Or go to the Grand Floridian and eat at Cinderella's Gala with Cindy, Prince Charming, the step-mother and step-sisters, and Fairy Godmother. The character meals are more expensive, but a magical way to start a trip!

Where are you staying??? Depending on your travel plans that day, you may want to go low key and close to your resort. Check in may take longer that you think.

If you are sure you will be checked in by 4:00, a character meal is great to start the trip with a little one. I like Crystal Palace at MK.

Thanks for the replies. I think we may get settled in and then head to 1900 Park Fare for the princess dinner. We're staying at the Poly so if I remember correctly the monorail is an easy way to get around.
Another question - should we do both the Park Fare princess dinner and the Norway Akerhaus princess breakfast?
Thanks!

That's exactly what we did last year for my 3.5 year old grand daughter's 1st visit to Disney! She loves the princesses and it started off the trip perfectly for her. We considered going to MK for EMH but she was tired so we went back to the resort and got an early start the next morning and made rope drop at MK.

I agree Crystal Palace if your going to MK...yummy;)

We did both on our last trip. Both were good, but we will probably not go back to Akerhaus again. The Princesses seemed much more rushed there, and didn't spend the time visiting with the kids as much as at Park Fare. Also, we arrived about 10 min before our breakfast ADR, but had to stand in line outside for about 45 min to get in and seated. Of all the character meals we have done, this was my least favorite. Park Fare was excellent. The characters interacted a lot with everyone. My DD was dressed as Cindy, and Prince Charming asked her to dance. Fairy Godmother led her around for about 5 minutes talking to her as if she were the real Cindy. It was really great. If your DD's like to dress up, I highly suggest letting them for the character meals, and then change afterwards for your park time.

Wow, if you are staying at the Poly, I would recommend having dinner at Ohana's. It would be a great way to kick off your trip, plus afterwards, you just go back to your room with little hassle. If you time it right, you can catch the MK fireworks on the beach! Most nights a small crowd assembles to watch the show, so it can be fun! Enjoy your trip!!!

I can't speak comparatively, but the buffet at 1900 Park Fair is a hoot, and they should love it. Our family is all grown up now and we still go there at least once every trip.

If you plan to see the evening parade or fireworks at MK, I'd go with Tony's Town Square. The food is really good! I wouldn't suggest Chef Mickey's...although the atmosphere is wonderful the food is questionable at best.

If you are not planning on fireworks/parade then I would go with 'Ohana. They have great food, great service and a few activities for the kids. I'd save the princess dinner for an evening when the girls are well rested.

I think it is a good choice to do 1900 Park Fare for your first night. We are doing the same thing/ We are arriving around 2pm, getting settled in maybe a little swimming and then dinner. We are doing Akershus later in the trip. They are both very different experiences and different food.

An early am at Fantasy Land - especially on an emh day - is great with the young ones. Assuming the same experience we had last July, you can get a lot of the rides done without much waiting which is nice for the kids when they are so excited to be there.

As for eating the first night, both last year and this year we are starting the trip on a Fantasmic night, so starting out with a F! dinner package - this was great last year to really kick the trip off.

If you mean you want to eat at MK, then I agree with Tony's.

Yes, Akershus was wonderful. Interaction with the princesses was great and the food (dinner) was surprisingly good; we had the salmon and the beef tips. Loved getting the photo package with Belle.
