My daughter will be turning 7 during our trip in October, the whole trip is a surprise so I can't ask her. We will be going to Epcot that day and won't be getting park hoppers, so I need a restaurant in Epcot, a resort, or offsite but close by. I have a reservation at Grand Floridian cafe right now but meh, not sure that is really all that exciting. And we've done 1900 for dinner twice and don't want to do that again. Any good ideas? No dining plan this time either :)

It would be a lot easier to suggest restaurants if you stated what type of food you like and what type of dining experience you are looking for.

My DD two favorites at that age (and still are at 10) are Akershus for the Princesses and Biergarten for the band and desserts. She is also fond of the Garden Grill to see the characters and it is like having dinner on a ride.

I 2nd Garden Grill! The food was terrific and the service even better. The character interaction was plenty and a lot of fun too!

Teppan Edo in Japan is also a great show. The food is freshly prepared right in front of you ( Benihana Style ) and is very tasty.

Teppan Edo might be really fun! We haven't ever done that before!

We like a variety of food - we aren't super fancy food types though - I just want something fun for her and am having a hard time finding someplace new in the right area that day. I was thinking of T-Rex but I have that booked a different night, I could move it. We are trying a lot of non Disney restaurants this time due to not having the dining plan, it's fun getting to try stuff we usually don't because we are tied to the credits.

If they love princesses, then Askerhus all the way! My girls really loved it there, and the food is better than most places. They have a buffet for appys, and they serve you the dinner. Dessert is good, but for your DD, I would suggest ordering a personalized cake. I don't know who you would go through for a custom cake to be delivered to Epcot, but I'm sure someone on here will. Or you could go to the thread called CakeChatter or something like that. Have a great time!!

My kids adored Coral Reef!

At seven DD couldn't tear her eyes away from the tank to eat more than a couple of bites of her dinner but she RAVED about that meal for nearly a year!!

Or maybe you could go to Beaches and Cream and have dinner and then order up the kitchen sink to share for dessert!! That would be a birthday meal to remember!!

Happy Birthday to your DD, my DD's 8th b-day gift is our trip to WDW in October, too, and she doesn't know either...doesn't it just kill ya? I think Akershus would be fun for her, but since no DDP...maybe you could opt for Downtown Disney...kids tend to like Rainforest and T-Rex. We are doing the breakfast at Akershus. Kids seem to like Biergarten as mentioned before, lots of music, etc, but I think it is a buffet, too.

I also say princess dinner in Norway, but if you didn't want to stay in Epcot or if it adds up too quickly oop, I think Beaches and Cream is a great, fun suggestion! Love the suggestion of the Kitchen Sink too...lots of fun! Close to Epcot too~
...and definitely eh to GFC for her special day's dinner. :)

I would suggest Teppan Edo. It is a very fun and entertaining dining experience. My kids love and have loved it since they were little.

We did DD's birthday at Crystal Palace the food is great and the service was awsome.
Askerhus for dinner was fun with the princessess but the kids and most of the adults with us didn't like the food there ... even dessert.
Tepan Edo is always a big hit!

It is killing me not to tell the kids - but I really don't want to tell them because they will then realize we'll be there on her birthday and I don't want to spoil that. I keep checking for Coral Reef or Garden Grill (we've done GG and the girls really liked the character interaction there) but I can't get either yet. Still plenty of time for something to open up though!

To the pp - hope your dc has a great birthday there too - my middle dd got to celebrate her actual 8th bday in Disney and it was an awesome trip for her :goodvibes

I asked DD 8, who is practically an expert, lol. (Earlier this year she made her 10th trip to Disney World.) She says either Les Chefs (if you can go when Remy might be there) or Akershus with the princesses. She said to be sure to order the princess mini surprise cake, the one that comes in a pink treasure chest. She also says that getting the princess cake while having dinner at Akershus is just PERFECT! :lovestruc
