Where to eat at MGM?

We enjoy Mama Melrose (it gets mixed reviews on this board). We've always had great service and good (not excellent, but good) food. We do not like H&V at all (one of only two places we will not consider going back to) and we were not crazy about Brown Derby when we went fivie years ago and just don't want to give up to table service credits to try it again. If we can't get into Mama Melrose, we will go to the Boardwalk or one of the resorts and dine there.

We love the Sci-Fi... The food is simple and the menu is not big... But what they do serve is good... The atmosphere is amazing... We have been three times and plan to visit again on our next trip!

Sci Fi if you're looking for a cool atmosphere and simple food (burgers, sandwiches, milkshakes).

Mama Melrose is decent Italian food but not outstanding. I like it and would go again.

50's Prime Time is great as long as you are into the spirit of "eating at home" and getting scolded if your elbows are on the table, you don't finish your veggies, etc.

I think it is fun but it can be annoying if you aren't into it though...

sci-fi to sit in a car watching movies while eating burgers & fries

50s for pot roast and brownie sundaes while "mom" fusses over you

brown derby for a quieter meal of cobb salad and grapefruit cake

these are our choices!!

My family and I have had lunch two times at 50's Prime Time Cafe, so I would recommend them because it was a great experience both times we went there.

out of curiosity around how much is the sci fi? also do you have to make reservations?

We are going to Toy Story Pizza Planet for lunch. Then for dinner, we are heading to 50's Prime Time, it seems like a good idea for a family of 6

So would you recomend Sci-fi for a lunch break? I think we might do a marathon day doing MGM then trying to hit MK for Spectro. I was thinking Sci-fi might just be the answer for a nice relaxing lunch but still keep 7 and 9 year old entertained?

Try Sci-Fi or the Brown Derby. I'm giving the Hollywood & Vine a shot soon. I hate the Prime Time. And I find CS at DHS the worst of the 4 parks

It is great for lunch... We did lunch there twice and it was a nice break... Make sure you make ADR ASAP because they are very popular!

I may be the minority here, but we love the Brown Derby. It's great food, and a fairly low key atmosphere, which makes a nice break. As I recall they had crayons for my nephews. They actually enjoyed it.

My two cents only. ;)

My favorites at the Studios are the Brown Derby and Mama Melrose's. But the other table restaurants are all acceptable, except for the Sci-Fi. We have eaten there twice, and both times found the food to be cold, (like the burgers were stalled under a heat lamp for a while, and the fries were limp and cold), and the service was very poor both times as well. I do not recommend the Sci-Fi to anyone.

I've eaten at Sci Fi (okay) Mama's (really good) Prime Time (good twice, horrible once)

I'd like to try the Brown Derby next time :)

Brown Derby is the only restaurant we would recommend at MGM.
